As long lasting as GTA?

Anyway... What's the point comparing games of different genres?

Will it last as long as The Settlers II? Tetris? Super Mario World? Chess?

Oblivion is far better than GTA4 for me ... GTA san andreas is far better than GTA4 though :)
Oblivion should hold anybodys attention for longer because there are more quests/missions and on GTA you play the exact same character every playthrough but elder scrolls can be played in a completely different way on several playthroughts and you can attempt different missions whenever you chose to ... gta you must do the missions on a set path

Oblivion keeps you engaged for a few hours at most, which is more time than I usually have...but after a while it can get boresome.

GTA 4 however is the only game in the world that I feel you could play for very long without getting bored, there's just so much fun to beating random people and shoving them and taking stuff.

GTA 4 got 10/10 on IGN...so getting to the point: GTA is more entertaining than Oblivion.

Do you think Skyrim will get 10/10 and be as good as GTA? i love TES, but recently i started gta 4 and i like it slightly more, which is why i am asking.

Let's remember the difference between opinion and fact, eh?
I personally can only play GTAIV for a hour or so at most, simply because I think, in my opinion, that it gets redundant after a while.
OB, on the other hand, in my opinion, can keep me occupied for a very long time. There is more stuff to do in Oblivion and more to explore

You can put hundreds of hours into an Elder Scroll game, but you can also play GTA for the same amount of time. Just driving around while listening to radio, doing stunts and discovering new locations. It depends on what entertains you.

There's more stuff to do in a TES game than a GTA game. Plus I said thousands, not hundreds. I personally put like 6000 hours into Oblivion.

i get annoyed when a forum member posts like their opinion is fact when its about this video game is better than that one. this for example, "this video game received 10/10 at a game review video, this video game is better than oblivion, will skyrim be as good as this game?" how annoying...especially on these forums......

Wow, that's a lot! I put like 500 hours in San Andreas and I thought that's a lot :)
If Skyrim will provide me 1000+ hours, I'll be very pleased.

San Andreas > GTA4

Oblivion > San Andreas

Though I didn't finish GTA4, I just didn't care for it  I could never pin point why.

You ask this in a TES fan forum... you'll probably get a bunch of people who still play both Morrowind and Oblivion and have spent only a couple of hours playing GTA (comparatively speaking). I think you'd be better off asking something less obviously weighted in favor of TES.

like me.

games like oblivion and the new fallouts can keep me entertained for a week straight (unless theres nothing else to do on my file, this only really happens in fallout, ob has all those races fore replayability), but after maybe a half a day of gta (either screwing around or playing missions) i feel like playing something else for a bit.

i do love pretending to be a hitman in tbogt though, driving around in a black rolls-royce putting those satchels on cars

IGN gave it a 10/10. Great for them. I respect their opinion.

You feel GTA4 is more entertaining. I also respect your opinion.

So I ask that you respect my opinion when I disagree in every way shape and form.

What he just said, are you sure your from this planet ? GTA barely made me want to play it beyond like a few hrs, oblivion and all TES on the other hand 500 + hrs easily same for the Fallouts

GTA is not more entertaining than Oblivion. You're passing your opinion off as fact. An opinion that most, if not all people here would disagree with. Rockstar and Bethesda are actually my two favorite game developers. I like GTA and RDR because of the realism, story, and characters. But I love Oblivion for the choices, character building, and RP'ing. Not to mention that it has endless replay value. Until you have atleast 40 hours on Oblivion, I don't think you can even begin to compare it to another game.

RDR woulda been alot more playable IMO if I coulda created my own character, and if they had spent a little more time on some in depth side quests to fill it out other wise it just didnt quite do it for me
