Bofra's Level Rates Modified

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:46 am

Hi, I was wondering if there's another better level rate system than Bofra's Level Rates Modified? Currently, I'm only using OOO own leveling system, though, i don't know if Bofra's is better than OOO system.

Bofra's is more or less one of the first mods that came out for this game IIRC. It simply modifies the vanilla leveling rates and is not really a 'level rate system'. If you want a really good leveling mod I suggest you either look at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14065, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13879 or, if you want something completely different, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35333. There are a few others that might be interesting, but these are the most popular ones as far as I can tell.

They are all good. I do prefer OblivionXP myself.

I actually have XP and its great to have. But if I recall, I could be wrong, XP doesn't affect how fast you level. The other mod Progress mention by another member looks interesting. I'll check that out.

Huh? If you have XP then you don't need any of the other mods. Not only that, they won't even work with Oblivion XP. Of course Oblivion XP affects how fast you level. It affects everything in regard to leveling. And you can adjust everything in the ini.

That's great to know. I read in the XP readme: "Oblivion XP is compatible with any and all mods except those that change leveling settings through script (Progress). It is highly recommended that you use one of the excellent level scaling overhauls out there in combination with Oblivion XP"

With 'level scaling overhaul' the author meant mods that change the leveling of the environment, like OOO, Fran's, FCOM, TIE etc. Mods that change the way the player levels and raises his skills/attributes will not work with Oblivion XP unless they were specifically made with XP in mind. That includes mods like Bofra's, the OOO leveling system (which both would be automatically overriden by XP, so no worries if you use OOO) or any of the other mods mentioned in this thread (which are not automatically overriden since they're heavily scripted, so don't use them in combination with XP).

Thanks for the clarification Phitt. I love XP and now I have more reason to love it. Do you have the latest XP? (4.1.7a)

I'm still waiting for Andalaybay to implement some changes I proposed and implemented in my own version of XP (unfortunately into the old version)...ahem. But I'll have to switch eventually since my current character uses poisons. The update is great and fixes some bugs, so it's definitely recommended to use it!

Is XP the only leveling system you have tried?

You ask the wrong person. I hate the vanilla style leveling system (where you increase your skills by using them) with a passion. I could go into detail, but I guess it's just a matter of taste. Oblivion XP was a gift from the gods for me. All other leveling mods are a variation of the vanilla leveling system and thus I won't use them. But many people like the vanilla system and the mods I mentioned get praise all the time. So you have to decide yourself whether you like the vanilla system or a traditional XP based system. If you're unsure you could use one system and if you don't like it switch to another system.

Hmmmm.... Your suggestions will be in the next release, which I'll start working on once I extricate myself from Max and Blender hell :) I'm working on a major update to Imperial Furniture Reno right now.

Thanks for that, I really appreciate it. If you need help with Max (no idea about Blender) just tell me.

Thanks Phitt - I may just take you up on that offer - a move you might regret
