cave of the incarnate

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:58 pm

I'm stuck in the main quest on the cave of the incarnate mission.I've talked to the correct people in order.I get inside the cave and nothing happens.I can't take the moon-and-star ring from azuras statue,the dead guys don't do anything and no cut-scene.I've played this a long time ago and it seems like I remember something like this happening before but I don't remember what happened or how I got past it.Is this a glitch in the game?I'm pretty sure the past incarnates give me stuff and azura makes an appearance and I get the ring when it works right.Can somebody help me with this?

What platform are you on? Any mods installed? What patch level?

You should be able to take the ring, get a cut scene, and then get a few trinkets from the failed incarnates, so something is definitely hosed up.

You could try this with the console (if on PC)

Player-> AddItem moon_and_star 1

Platform is pc
No mods
Haven't patched because I didn't read where any of them fixed that issue,I save a lot.
Yes,what you described is what I remember is supposed to happen.I'm sure the problem is the cut scene not starting because when I approach Azura the ring stops spinning.I think scene should start then.
I thought adding the moon-and-star ring might solve it also but when I return to Sul-Matuul and Nibani-Maesa they still speak to me like I have my instructions and need to do the cave of the incarnate.If there's a journal entry I could do or a dialog skip to,and then just keep the ring so I can continue the MQ,that would be fine.I would need to know what to enter in the console.
Thanks for helping and replying to this,I know this is a really old game but after all these years I still think its the best and can't believe everybody doesn't know about it.Oblivion too.
I have servers for the battlefield series games so I haven't played all the rpg games that are out there,but I played Morrowind when it was new and was amazed with it.I've briefly looked at a few games since then so I wouldn't let a Morrowind type game pass me by.Of course Oblivion is the only game as good but they're brothers in my opinion.
Morrowind still Rocks.

I find myself apologizing to a computer screen when I can't free a Khajiit or Argonian!!! LOL

I would highly recommend http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm the game to the appropriate level. Also consider the http://www.etherealsoftware.com.au/patch/, which fixes many things overlooked by the devs.

M'kay, looks like it's more than an item check for dialogue. For kicks and giggles, you may want to drop the ring from inventory and try to pick it back up. Hopefully this works, but if not than use the console to add yet a 3rd ring to get past this stage. Since I can't access the CS until Thursday, I really have no idea as to what is happening at this point with the item's script.

Try this journal entry;

Journal A2_6_Incarnate 50

That should move you along...

This happened to me on my first time through the MQ. I had to enter the right Journal entries and add item command to get it finished and still didn't the cut-scene. I've never had trouble since so I'm just guessing.
When you return from Kogoruhn Sul Matuul will tell you a riddle
"the eye of the needle lies in the teeth of the wind
the mouth of the cave lies in the skin of the pearl
the dream is the door and the star is the key"

and instruct you about learning the answer from the wisdom of the tribe.
Each tribe member you talk to has one or another line of the riddle in their dialogue. So ask around. I always double check with Nibani afterwards for good measure.
It seems like that helps kick off the cut scene.
Check here for more info (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:The_Path_of_the_Incarnate#Cavern_of_the_Incarnate)
Hope it helps.

Thanks guys.I think that's really cool that after all this time people like yourselves are still checking the forums and helping people(and thanks for fishy stick).I used the journal entry and all seems to be good.I'm going to take your advice and patch my game,I've downloaded the regular as well as the unofficial patches.I take it its ok to install both correct?

Right now I'm using no plug ins but ages ago when I played I used this one that added dragons and a giant creature from the black lagoon looking thing as well as some count chocula guys with capes at night and naked nymphs.It could've been 2 plug ins but these things were really neat and worked with no problems.would either of you happen to remember what they were called? I think the giant creature dude was called a titan and was almost impossible to kill.

I'm real leery about plug ins because of the tendency for problems just playing regular but I loved those ones and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for plug ins that you've liked.I will be patched and haven't installed tribunal or bloodmoon yet.I've done the one where you boat to an island with 4-5 guys and fight all the skeletons also.

Anyway thanks very much for the help,without it I probably would've freed all the slaves I could then shelved the game.With your help,well you know how vast this game is and how much there is to do now,Thank You for helping me as well as your efforts in continuing to help others,new and old,with the coolest game on the planet.
