Skyrim Plot Speculation

(SPOILERS: For those who haven't completed the Oblivion storyline)

So I've been doing a little research on the Elder Scrolls lore which has led to some speculation on my part as to what may be the main storyline in Skyrim.

From what I've gathered, the first Dragonborn was Tiber Septim through whom the line of emperors in Tamriel derives. At the end of Oblivion, with the death of Martin, the line of Kings is broken and the dragonborn are no more (I am under the impression that all who are within the Tiber Septim bloodline are in fact dragonborn....correct if I'm wrong).

So, on to the speculation. We find ourselves in very unique instance in the Elder Scrolls history where there is no longer an emperor of Tamriel, and it seems the nation is in disarray. I believe we will be fulfilling the role of the one who will begin the new line of kings, one who will reunite Tamriel (beginning with Skryim). Another possibility is that the character we will be playing is in fact within the septim bloodline and is simply the last of the dragonborn.

From what I've read, it seems that the reign of Tiber Septim was the beginning of the third era, which leads me to believe that we are in fact taking the role of a character who will usher in the new era, establishing a new line of kings...and possibly leading the land Tamriel into a second golden age.

Question: For those of you (probably most of you) who have more knowledge on the subject than I do, did Alduin have a part in making Tiber Septim a dragonborn?

Let me know your thoughts :)

There are multiple Dragonborn bloodlines, not exclusively the Septims. For example, some theorize that Mankar Camoran was a Dragonborn, hence being able to wear the Amulet of Kings. I'm not sure if we'll have a clear cut explanation of who our Dragonborn bloodline comes from, hopefully that will be left open.

Akatosh/Alduin had everything to do with Tiber Septim being Dragonborn. He was the entire reason for it.

Thank you for clarifying. I never made the connection between Akatosh and Alduin. This is helpful information lol.

Ya the Septims weren't the first line of Dragonborn. Alessia and the Remans were also Dragonborn I believe. Honestly though I don't believe we will be the new emperor since ten races leds to several problems when trying to establish a canon race for the emperor. That being said becoming emperor would be awsome.

Actually, its not the first time Tamriel has been without an emperor.

I'm hoping for some Back to the Future moments. Like something strange happens early on with no real way to explain it until later on we learn that we did it. TIme paradox, overlaps, warps and bubbles, oh the fun confusion they could throw at us.

The end of Oblivion was the end of the 3rd age which means that the 4th age has been around for 200 years when Skyrim starts.
