How to equip NPC : III

I've decided to keep one of my NPCs hanging around for a bit of additional brute force

He's the son of a Redoran Councillor who I'm returning to his father in the Skar after rescuing him (Vurvur Sarethi) He seems capable of looking after himself- no young lad this one.

Trouble is that he hasn't got any weapons and theres no barter option

Is there any way to equip NPCS with a sword.

If on the PC, yes.
Open the console, select the NPC (so that his name appears at the top of the console window) then use AddItem followed by the item ID and amount.
example: Additem "bonemold_pauldron_r" 1

NPCs only wield weapons when in combat though, so you won't see his weapon until he draws it.
