If Multi-Player is Unplayable & Single Player is Ruined

Outside of the people who magically have never experienced any type of lag on console during multi-player and those gaming geniuses who apparently do every mission and every challenge on "Hard" without bot assistance... what possible answers are there for the tiny minority like myself? =o\

I'm not sure what you're asking.

I've been able to beat all the campaign missions on Hard solo and it's not that bad..but I'm still in the same situation. Multiplayer can be nothing but lag leaving me to resort to single player which is a bit too repetitive at this point (2nd character, both campaigns beat twice on normal and hard mode). I'm not a clan guy but I'm starting to look for one now just so I wont be playing by myself and will have ppl to play with who don't lag.

If you haven't tried playing freeplay with competitive settings, give it a shot. I been playing virtually lag free for the last week, and no bots, 5v5 team play... Only downside is no command post buffs.. oh well.. Great times, and awesome until they fix the big teams lag.

I have around 35 Kbps download, 50-60 Kbps upload and between 175-400 ms ping to US hosts/servers... and I kid you not, I just played a game with 1 other person and there was NO lag. Just find a couple or a few friends to play with and go coop.

Try a campaign on VS. I've had very, very little lag doing that, even in games with a bunch of Human players. But, I go to Freeplay and teleport around when its just 3 people...

Random coincidence or is the Campaign mode just somehow more stable online?

What seems to be the issue you are encountering on solo play with the bots? I would assume you are having issues finishing objectives that are not directly related to your current class? I too have had some issues with that, however I normally do not fail more than once or twice. Even if it is the bots whom are completing the primary objective. Why would you play on hard (other than for the achievement)? From my experience, the bots perform no worse, nor better dependent upon difficulty level.

Difficulty levels adjust the following values (these are speculative):

Amount of Damage dealt to human players ie: 50%, 100%, 200% respectively
The time it takes for the AI to target a human player, and begin to fire
Amount of Damage dealt to AI players ie 200%, 100%, 50% respectively

So in other words:
at normal difficulty, you receive 100% damage, and deal 100% damage, and the AI's target acquisition + fire time is relatively similar to that of the average player.

Keep in mind, Brink has what I like to call spooky AI (some what dynamic) >> in which there are some abnormal AI behavior going on behind the scenes (which is intended), particularly when you have arrived at the 2 minute mark. Another thing is, I have not noticed to any great extent a XP boost by playing on x difficulty level. I would advise you to play on the easy difficulty level, increase your aggressiveness, who cares if you die, just jump back in. Anytime I've had difficulty with letting the AI complete a primary objective, I usually was not being aggressive enough, just say f___ it, and charge in there, who knows you might get lucky! Get on a good kill streak and your AI counterparts will surely complete their objectives.

If that's the case how come on Easy the bots are mowing me and my team down like we're made out tissue paper? I'm level 15. 90% of the time expended is having long drawn out fire fights with opposing bots where my whole team drops like flies and I'm the only one left alive trying to wait for them to respawn and come take another butt kicking. Or I'll die and we'll all spawn together to do it again. Or they'll be those times when you don't even know where your team is, but you for SURE know where the opposing bots are because they're ramming bullets up your bottom.

  • Use more turrets - they destroy them... fast
  • Capture command posts - they take them back... FAST
  • Buff your teammates - doesn't help AND the objective won't get done
  • The bots aren't there to do the job for you - Right I have to be super Rambo Ninja Medic Engineer Motlov Hackman in a Team/mission based game.

I'm not sold. How can I enjoy Brink? LOL

Put it on the shelf until you're satisfied with the condition of the game. You're clearly not enjoying it now.

Think that might be the move. Just feel a little cheated because it wasn't even much enjoyable after the customization and challenges. I'll see you guys in June. LOL
