2-Star Escort Challenge

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:02 pm

The title says it all.

I just CAN'T do this. I have now tried......112 times. Too many baddies, who all capture the CP and lay turrets, vs me, with limited ammo and a super-fragile bot. My bot ALWAY stops between two flashing lights, which means the spawn is constant and the bot-rush is just too much. Shoot, take CP AND keep the bot moving in the face of unending baddies = Epic Brad Fail. Insanely hard, Imo - I have NEVER got around the 2nd turn..

I'd hugely appreciate some genuine advice. I'd hoped hitting lvl 20 would unlock the buffed magazines, too - Alas, no.

I can only see myself having the patience for another couple of tries, so I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

TY.

P.S....SD and Beth - this challenge is waaaaaay too hard. With limited baddies and unlimited ammo/soldier, maybe. As it is, this is crazy-hard.

ya that was really hard wait till three stars.. do this it works great.
1. repair bot to about 95 %
2. place mines infront of doors with flashing lights.
3. repair bot all the way. this makes it so you can get a head start you can make it to the second turn off the bat.
4. anticipate enemies by throwing grenades through doorways.
5. if your bot dies and the three enemies are out the door kill two of them.. then repair the bot then kill the third. they come in waves of three so if you kill two the third must die before they have to respawns.. any questions or concerns

Completed escort challenge at lvl 4, challenges are easier at lower levels.
The best advice I can give is to try runnig it as a light engineer.
This allows you to return to the not quickly but be able to use the draganov and revolver. always buff yor guns as soon as you spawn and chuck a grenade at the bot, clean up the knocked sown enemies with the draganov and then go in close and spam with the revolver. Being a good grenade cooker really helps with crowd control.

Good Luck

Seriously not trying to brag here, but I completed this within a couple of tries. However, I did the challenges when I first bought the game. From what I've read on other posts, the challenges are harder or easier depending on your level. Since I was well below level 10 when I completed all of my challenges, I found them to be pretty easy. If you are level 15 or higher, I think it is going to be tough. A lot of people have made comments that the bots get harder and harder the higher level you are.

Basically here's how I beat it though, in case i'm wrong about the difficulty of the bots scaling with your character's level.

Before repairing/ escorting the bot, set up a turret to help take out bots as they come out of the flashing doors. Also deploy land mines near the command post and if you have the option of placing 2 mines, place another near one of the doorways. Now go repair the bot, start escorting using the robot as cover. Make sure you're buffing yourself with damage upgrade. Kill the bots as they come out of the door, don't give them a chance to pile up around the robot. Use grenades to keep them at bay.

That's just how I did it. You've probably done the same thing. There really is no trick to it other than the common sense things that I did, which you've probably already tried. My best guess is that your character level is around 20 which, from what I've heard, makes the challenges very difficult. The Challenges are best completed early on if you want the unlockables early on. If it seems impossible, I hate to say it, you might want to start a new character and try these challenges at rank 1, level 1-4. I bet you'll find them to be a piece of cake. Let me know how that works out for you.

The difficulty of the challenge is directly related to the level of your character, so it gets a lot harder.

As for tips, like others said plant mines and set up a turret prior to repairing the bot at the start. Also cap the CP and upgrade it.

Once you get the bot moving just keep the timing down as the various doors light up so you can lob a grenade into the door as they come out and then pick them off. Carry two SMGs as your weapons to maintain enough ammo to make it a ways. Use your bot for cover. When it goes down kill two and repair the bot and get it moving. Don't kill the third guy until you have to because the enemies don't respawn until they're all dead or you reach the next door (then kill the guy you've been keeping alive and worry about the next rush).

Thank you for the advice, I'll start a new guy and try again.

As others have said, challenges are easier at lower player character level. Enemy bots are level scaled. Start a new character (don't have to delete old one), immediately start the challenge(s) you need to complete and if you feel you are going to fail the mission retry it before it ends instead of completing it so that you won't get XP for completing the match even though you failed the mission. That way you keep your level down.

I was lvl 20 trying to do Be More Objective Rank 2 and I was about to smash something, when I went online and found out that simply being a low level character is the key. I made a new char and had ALL challenges done on rank 3 on my first or second tries in under an hour and a half and got my achievement, King of the World.

A Gaxillion thanks, Guys - 1st-timed it with my new character, amid much swearing and sweaty hands!!

If you're in this thread, because you too are struggling:

1. New Char, left unchanged between * and **
2. Place mine (you'll have no turrets) under nearest yellow light.
3. Take CP (for ammo replen).
4. Fix bot. when accompanying stick to beside front track on the side with the nearest yellow-lit door on it.
5. Drop first 2 baddies - DO NOT DROP THE THIRD YET.
6. Keep baddie No3 on the other side of the bot to you.
7. Race off and place next mine, then replen at CP.
8. Trigger next spawn and drop first 2 baddies.
9. Check your 6 - when previous light has stopped spinning, drop baddie No3 from the door you've now passed.
10. Rinse and repeat!

At level 20 I was dropping these guys like flies, but being swamped as they kept on coming - IF YOU LEAVE BADDIE 3 ALIVE, YOU'LL ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH 3 BADDIES PER DOOR!!!

Good luck to the strugglers, and thanks again to the helpful gurus who helped me out. :celebration:

Wow, I seriously never have ANY issues with this challenge, even as a rank 1 with no Engineer skills.

I always run it as a Medium character with an AR and an SMG... I recommend the Gerund w/ Muzzle Break, irons/RDS and a Foregrip or Extended Mags if you feel the need, and the Kross w/ Muzzle Break, irons/RDS, Speed Sling and Extended Mags. Idon't remember what the challenge actually unlocks, so if it unlocks something I've listed then disregard that.

Right off the bat, buff your weapon and do so every time you spawn, use the vehicle as cover as you advance, repair it to around 90-95% if it breaks down and finish it off the very second you kill the final enemy in the wave, or finish it off just before you anticipate being able to kill him. Win.

Or you could use your cheap mines tactic.

its also important on these to get back and reload as often as possible. nothing worse than running out of ammo mid fight. use the bot for cover. they dont seem to be able to destroy it totally

if im honest i did these at level 15 and found them easy too.
