Soldier's Kevlar not working properly?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:47 am

I have the kevlar vest on my soldier and engineers still give me extra kevlar even though it says they cannot give it to anyone who already has the buff. Also there is no icon or anything telling me that i have it.

I even sold all my abilities and got it again, still the above is happening.

Is it even working?

It is on constantly. The Kevlar given by Engineers is another boost. It works properly, the Soldier's Kevlar doesn't have a signal to show it is on, much like the Armor Piercing Ammo.

It's not meant to stack with the Engineer buff, though, and it's meant to prevent them from giving it - says so in the ability description.

Do you know if they stack? If you have the Soldier's Kevlar ability and get buffed by your Engineer, do you gain extra damage resistance?

Ive seen another thread on this topic and I do think that there is a problem with the current soldier passive abilities. Dunno about APR but I have heard that their upped dmg versus Kevlar is iffy. As for the Kevlar like you said it says you cannot be buffed with Kevlar if you have it but there have been a few people who have said that they get buffed after they have it anyways. As far as I know they don't stack and you shouldn't be able to get a Kevlar buff if you have it. Id def like this to be fixed though cause if not then its a waste of 4 or 5 points :(

I'm confused - "waste of 4 or 5 points" how? Kevlar only costs one level point, same as every other ability in the game does.

Kevlar is supposed to reduce the amount of damage you take, while AP ammo lets you ignore the effect.

I'm PRETTY sure the Soldier's Kevlar does its job, but I know for a fact that you can still be given the Engineer's Kevlar buff with it. Because you CAN have both, I'm wondering if having the Engineer buff as well gives you further damage reduction, or lets you ignore the damage reduction of AP ammo.

Also, the possibility of double-buffed Soldiers being resistant to AP ammo might be why its effect is "iffy" - sometimes it works, sometimes not - because some enemies have a second buff, and it only punctures the first? Just a theory, but it's worth considering - would be interesting, although I'd prefer they make sure the descriptions match the actual functionality of the abilities.

Even then, it still only costs 1 point.

1 point per ability and were talking about the soldiers APR and his Kevlar. Therefore two ability points.

Huh? The AP Ammo works and Engineers can still gvie any class a Kevlar buff so this skill point is not wasted. Therefore it is only 1 ability point.

I read in a past post (another thread), that there is a bonus to stacking.

Like 13% standard 18% after engi gives kevlar. Hopefully he will see this and give the exact numbers.

My concern is that with the Soldier kevlar and Engi kevlar being seperate, Is that I really don't feel that AP is working most of the time, there are enemies I meet that are no doubt kevlared judging by the low amount of dmg they take, thing is I really shouldnt notice theyr kevlar at all as AP is supposed to completly cancel out kevlar.

I would really like to see devs confirm that the Soldier kevlar and Ap rounds are working correctly, I am not denying that I might be wrong, I am just saying something feels out of wack.

Ye same problem. And can anyone tell me about AP rounds. Like does it make all the bullets AP from now until you die. Or just the few bullets you restocked yourself with?

Den Kirson confirmed that the kevlar does work for soldier and engineer. It reduces damage by 20%.
