Ashlander character Build

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:28 pm

Hi there,

After consulting the UESP and the list of Ashlanders and their classes I have decided to role-play an Ashlander Hunter.

However I have tweak'd the build abit getting rid of Medium armor for Alchemy.

The origional build ( http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?app=forums&module=post§ion=post&do=new_post&f=6 )

And my build is as follows:

Ashlander Hunter

Specialization: Stealth

Attributes: Agility, Speed

Major Skills:

  • Light Armor
  • Marksman
  • Short Blade
  • Athletics
  • Restoration

Minor Skills:

  • Mysticism
  • Block
  • Spear
  • Alchemy
  • Sneak

What do you think?

Looks good except that I'd swap Restoration and Athletics. Reason is that Restoration is pretty useless at minor starting level but at major level can give you Hearth Heal right at the start. Also, you can grab Rest of St.Merris to temporarily replace the need for Athletics. (also an easy to cast Restoration spell)

Hmm this is true. The build is based upon the offical build for a hunter but i can see what your saying. I will swap over restoration and atheltics. - done. swaped them over.

I could get rid of athletics altogether and put medium armor in. I am also not liking the look of acrobatics either. While i guess it could be usful as an ashlander outcast it, perhaps something more worthwhile could be put in?

Where's spear? I'd imagine that an Ashlander would atleast use it as a minor skill. Otherwise the build looks alright.

Ok i have replaced axe with spear.

Now i am thinking that i have spear and marksmen which are two weapon classes that dont require a shield. Then i have shortblade which i cna use a shield with. I am just wondering if its worth having block?

i am thinking of putting mystcisim in there somewhere, thinking or replacing on of the following:

athletics
acrobatics
block

which do you reconmend?

Mysticism is good for the obvious mark, recall, soultrap and intervention but also as a favored skill for the Temple which a good Dunmer might want to join (but maybe not an outcast). I think any of those skills are expendable.

well i am gonna go with acrobatics in place of mysticism.

Now as for weapons, armor and extras. I am thinking the obvious chitin with maybe enchanted versions that can be found throughout the game. Other than that i am pretty much set.

I wouldn't reccomned taking Mysticism out of the skills as it's part of the favored skills of an ashlander (outcast or not).

I'm sure that you are putting your stealth oriented skills in major to give you an advantage when you start out but you are also seriously hampering your other non stealth based skills by putting them in your minor skill set.

since you're playing a dunmer your attributes probably look some thing like this:

Male | Female
40 | 40---------Strength
40 | 40---------Intelligence
30 | 30---------Willpower
50 | 50---------Agility
60 | 60---------Speed
40 | 30---------Endurance
30 | 40---------Personality
40 | 40---------Luck

this has the attributes bonus calculated in.

Your skills, with your original set up, will look something like this:

Major Skills:

Light Armor 30+5+5= 40
Marksman 30+5+5= 40
Short Blade 30+10+5= 45
Sneak 30+5= 35
Restoration 30

Minor Skills:

Mysticism 15+5= 20
Block 15
Spear 15
Alchemy 15
Athletics 15+5=20

These are calculated with Dunmer Skill bonuses and and specialization bonuses added.

From my point of view this is kind of unbalanced. You can do things this way if you want though, as it is your character.

Whatever you decide to do, have fun while you play.

you have to remember this is a build for an Ashlander hunter - not an all round ashlander.

I think swapping the sneak and athletic skills around might make for an all round better palying style.

Not being at home I can't check but I've got an old screen shot http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg282/MrKWMonk/Map-lorishwithnotes.jpg

IIRC this is the hunter class that comes with the game but isn't available in the vanilla game without enabling it in a mod.

Not saying it's perfect fit for what you might be after by perhaps a guide.

I already know about that class - I based the Ashlander hunter class upon that one - just with a few tweaks.

I also made/came across some more ashalnder classes. http://younwah.motionsforum.com/morrowind-modding-f1/the-ashlander-list-t23.htm#128

The original build link to UESP in the first post goes to a new post window here on the forums for me so didn't know if you'd seen it.

Anyway I think the tweaks you've made fit the bill nicely.

Ashlanders hate the temple and cult, so intervention is out. Oh well, the spell schools are pretty much irrelevant to hunters anyway.
