Fallout: New Vegas has Stea,

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:24 pm

A google search will net a statement by one of the Developers of Fallout: New Vegas where he states that the game is a "Steamworks" game meaning it will be associated with Steam. This is not a good prospect, as I highly dislike Steam and dislike having games linked to it. I propose, if possible, release a "standalone" version that has no Steam association.

This has been known for several months now. Steam is one of the least intrusive DRM variants, while not ideal, its a lot better then GFWL. And the game is already available for preload on Steam, so it is not going to happen this time. Maybe they will change it for GOTY.

It's been known for months that New Vegas will use Steam and Steamworks. A simple forum search would have told you that,

It's only a few days to release so a standalone version will not be coming out anytime soon and due to the nature of the steamworks intergation I' doubt they'll bother with the difficulty of taking it out anyway.

This is perhaps the 20th thread like this I have seen.

Yes we all know that its on Steamworks. We realize some people don't like Steam. but....

1)I personally actually like the system, it is convenient, can buy new games and download them from home, saves a complete list of all my games so I never need a disk again, etc etc

2) In a world full of DRM, it is generally viewed as the least annoying.

3) They will not be released a non-steamworks version. Deal with it or pick a console version.

Seriously, why does everyone hate Steam so much? I downloaded Steam back when they were giving away Portal for free, I don't see anything wrong with it.

It's a lightweight, unobtrusive DRM scheme that lets you play and download your games to multiple PCs without the disk. THE HORROR :ahhh:

I do not have to worry about Steam when I play F:NV. I am playing on the 360 so no worries for me.

Because they don't understand it? personally I think steam is fine, but I prefer the actual disc, this may change later on but for now I only have 1-2 games on steam.

I wasn't aware that this was known information, as a search on this forum had a 0 percent yield. Pardon me.

Fallout:New Vegas will require a steam authentication to run. After that you don't need to ever go online to play it again. There is a pinned thread which includes this info and several open threads discussing it. Please use an open thread for continued discussion but it has been decided and will not change.
