The Throat of the World

The ending of the teaser when the dragon flies off, that structure seems to be on a big mountain that's appeared a lot during the trailer and screens, some of the screens are of battles, which is what I think will keep us occupied during our accent to glory. :celebration:

Not only will I climb up the 7000 steps, I will also climb back down them in triumphant glee.

I live on second floor. There is two stairways from first to second floor, each one with 10 steps. 20 steps per floor. 7000 / 20 = 350 floors. Height of one floor in my house is a bit less than 3 meters, but let's say that it's 3 meters. 300 / 20 = 15 cm per step. 15 * 7000 = 1050 meters up to top.

Roughly one kilometer. I was at mountain resort this summer, and I routinely walked up about a half of this height every morning, starting somewhere at 800 meters above sea level, and ending at 1200 or so. Oh, and it wasn't "always up", terrainkurs are going up and down constantly, so it was indeed close to 500 meters height change at least.

This is not really a big deal. Any advlt without major health problems can do it. If done without a training — yeah, your legs will be in pain for a two-three days, sure.

Oh, and these steps could be much lower than 15 cm. Say, 10 or even 7 cm. Then this epic task becomes trivial. Mind you, I don't say that it is bad idea, boring feature or anything like that. I like it actually, it's just not that big of a deal.

Will I climb it? Of course, on auto-run, while simultaneously jumping (standard walking procedure in TES games), though if anologues of Athletics + Acrobatics aren't trained that way, then I won't jump, of course.

It won't even be long, if there aren't any monsters in the way. Our character in game walks much faster than we are in real life, and he doesn't have any problems with fatigue loss from climbing uphill.

While you're quite right, for the sake of discussion there are several factors that might make the Dragonborn's ascent of the 7000 steps rather more challenging than an equivalent climb in the real world:
  • Carrying (heavy?) wargear
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Possibility (likelihood?) of combat throughout
  • Icy steps(!)

But yeah. A hard climb's nothing to the average fantasy hero.
