Nice rig. But why are you about to risk the stability of your new computer by buying New Vegas? . Trust me, you don't want your machine anywhere near his piece of 'code'.
What a helpful response. Thanks for that.
I don't agree.
This (proposed) rig has too much CPU and not enough video.
The new HD6850 is somewhat less powerful than a 5850 (and much less than a 5870).
There is only 1 vidcard that excites me (and it's not an ATI)...
GTX580 - now there's a vidcard, and you need only one.
(Expensive though.)
There's no such thing as too much CPU and not enough video since the CPU gets used for a lot of things besides gaming. It's not useful to bottleneck your GPU with insufficient CPU, though.
Seriously, you couldn't pay me to use an AMD/ATI vidcard.
Meh, my last 4 video cards have been nVidia cards and they've been great, and I've had several ATI cards before that. I got a sweet deal on a 5870 a few months ago and I dig it...no problems and great price/performance/power consumption/heat ratios. I'm not into brand loyalty...every major hardware company makes good and bad products.
I avoided the GTX 480 because it's not very efficient from a thermodynamics perspective, but the GTX 580 looks great. Still too expensive, though. I'm not paying a 40% early-adopter tax.
