WTF up with the mics

i have a mic and the only way i can hear or talk to other people with mics is creating a fire squad with them.

does anyone know a way around this where i can have a public chat

Play on a server where they have public enabled and it helps if you have everyone put the following in their autoexec.cfg

s_volume_voipin_db 0
s_volume_voipout_db 0

By default, those values are -6, which is too quiet.

i'm pretty sure theres a VOIP option in the custom games setup , but i havent tried it out yet .

what is VOIP ive looked at it but i doidnt want to mess someting up by activating it

voip- Voice Over Iinternet Protocall ,basically peer-2peer chat , that should be the option for public chat on ps3,xbox at least.

Yeah, if you have VOIP on, it means you can talk publicly. But on campaign/standard freeplay in whatever modes its deactivated anyway.

Really dumb idea if you ask me.

I just play advanced/competitive, found that a few people talk on there, but none anywhere else.

You can set up a server to have public voip on in any game mode.

Not on campaign and stuff on 360.... Unless I'm missing something really obvious... but I've looked before and can't find it. Only on freeplay and custom modes I've been able to change it.
