Trophies confirmed for Skyrim?

So are trophies and achievements some sort of boobie prize, because consoles don't have mods?

IMO, it's a bad trend to put these in RPGs.

I don't see this as a boobie prize. It see this as a step in the same direction, making the user a spectator, not an actor. Fast food concept in games industry. Add to this lineality and sort games (a very common tendency latelly) and you have the perfect cheeseburger game.

Since when does a looser get trophies? :ermm:
I always thought you have to win something in order to get one.

Not anymore. Last place teams get trophies now.

Not meant as a flame and not even really as a suggestion for game development or anything like that - just an opinion that I feel a desire to post, because I've rarely seen a situation in which this cliched string of words more clearly expresses my exact view of something:

I could not care less.

ANSWER PLEASE

Not confirmed, no.

It is a safe bet that they are though. Bethesda likes achievements/trophies.

Trophies are the Playstation 3 equivalent to Xbox 360 achievements. They exist merely for fun; to give the player a sense of gratification. You perform something; and if you succeed, you are awarded an award (achievement) for all to see. Whether or not people will bother checking for your achievements/trophies... is another story.

Most games on the consoles come with Trophies and Achievements. In fact it is very, very rare to not see them.

That's pretty much a 99.9% yes.

No. They have not been confirmed.
Well, by nature that Skyrim is releasing on the 360, Achievements are 100% confirmed. And even if PS3 didn't also have a mandatory policy regarding there Trophies, I'm sure they'd be adding in simply because they're already made and ready to go.

It's a stupid trend, especially in RPG's imo. But Sony and MS have both made them mandatory on all games for their platforms.

I actually kind of hope a big developer will go against them on this, though I doubt any of them would. Honestly, if the developer of a very highly anticipated game decided not to make achievements, do you really think ms and sony would ban the game? If they did there would be a huge uproar against both companies for doing so. I would actually like to see this if only for the sake of some humility coming from the two. I really hate it when companies get a stick up their bum and make dev's do stupid stuff like this to get a release on their console.
