Installation Issue

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:33 pm

Okay so I've played Morrowind a lot but I got a new computer a while back and am re-installing.

This is the issue I get when re-installing:

Component Transfer Error
Component: Music
File Group: Music
File: E:\data2.cab
Error: data error (cyclic redundancy check)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am running Vista on this computer
so that could be part of the problem, don't know.

Check if your game disc is scratched of dirty. If it is, try to gently clean it with something soft, but if it fails you may need to buy new disc.

Wow, I cleaned it and when I did, it looked really scratched up to me, but I re-installed and it worked fine.

Let's hope the game play works as well and fast as that installation did! Thank you!

I would strongly recommend making a DVD backup of the game disc. I believe Morrowind allows this to be done, legally. Making a backup may stress the disc more so then simply reading it so I would do it soon.
