Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Caps...

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 2:00 pm

I know the game has been out for only 11 days, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the star bottle caps. It's been nagging at me and I just want to know if anyone's discovered the location of the treasure and how many star bottle caps are needed. I know there are some hardcoe fallout fans that have hours of gameplay that may have found it already.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

You need to take 50 Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps to Festus at the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters. He'll let you in on the secret.

The treasure is at the Sunset Sarsaparilla HQ (somewhere west of New Vegas) and I believe you need 50 bottlecaps but don't quote me on that. I only have 27. :(

EDIT: Ninja'd. :facepalm:

There are more than 50 star caps in the wasteland but you only need 50 for the "treasure". I got it yesterday :P

Thanks, I thought it would most likely be a secret cave like Rockopolis in FO3. Even though you had the option to give Festus the caps at the HQ. I bet you can still find him though because there's a special dialogue option if 'You are an old friend of Festus'

Some delicious oldschool Fallout black humor.

Also a very powerful gun, but that's not really part of "the" reward.

Okay, SPOILER, SPOILER. SPOILER.

You get Sunset Sarsaparilla deputy badge. Zero weight, zero value, misc item.

Okay, I'm joking. You actually get 300+ badges.

You also get;

Spoiler
About 1,000+ caps and Pew Pew, the unique laser pistol of assassin that was killing the other collectors.

SPOILER*****
Spoiler
In the sunset sasparilla factory festus is an old cowboy robot in a booth. You put 50 caps in the slot and he gives you the "prize" which is the history of sunset sasparilla. After he tells the story which is good you have an option 'You're joking right?' or something like that and then he says for the people who aren't happy with the story there is another prize which is in a room in the factory with a very hard lock and terminal but you get the key... basically the room is full of raided crates so it must have been a lifetime supply or something, (each crate has around 150 caps with the cap finding perk so you get ~1000 caps from them) but in the corner you find the body of allen marks, the guy who was killing people for the blue stars. beside him there is a laser pistol called 'Pew Pew' which owns big so that's the real treasure. Theres also a holotape of him when he's dying saying how he regrets killing ppl etc... (in fact this is the only voice tape i've come across in the game) the end.

List of star bottle cap locations; http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_the_Star

As for the lottery tickets;

Spoiler
The Legion took over Nipton and handed out lottery tickets. The winner got to live to tell everyone about the Legion. The losers got dead.

I completed this quest today, opened the doors and expected to find some cool Sunset Sarsaprilla gun. Needless to say, my heart sank to the bottom of Lake Mead. :sadvaultboy:

That's just so you don't have to go through the whole "What is a Star Bottle Cap" when you return to deliver them.
