Other side of the spectrum, why is it such a big deal that they'd have to play a male character? Seems to me it'd be more sixist to include female characters since 90% of them are going to have male players, all dressed as close to bare-bottom as the game itself allows. Furthermore, you'd see no heavy female characters, you have my word on that, they'll all be lights or mediums including the ones played by actual women.
This seems to me like just a feminist craze, an assumption that because they weren't included in the game they were intentionally excluded, which simply isn't true! The developing team would have to adapt a totally different style of characterization or else all female characters, like male characters, would look like abhorrent mingers (huge chins and noses, incredibly narrow faces), and then you'd complain again because it'd be a commentary on how looks are important to women- and if they'd all make them drop-dead gorgeous they'd complain that it's shallow and sixist.
It's. Not. Important.
It is a big deal to female gamers because they don't want to be forced to accept a male character. So, what happens to the 10%? Deny their existence? Is anyone asking for a 50/50 breakdown on the customization option here just to include females?
Dressed as close to bare-bottom? Really? Scantily clad female models stops at RPGs and Mortal Kombat. The females would have had just the same amount of clothing as a new Male Character in Brink.
No female heavies? WHY? Because you think there shouldn't be one? Please be more sixist.
Abhorrent mingers? So either make female models look traditionally beautiful or don't include them at all? Nice.
"and if they'd all make them drop-dead gorgeous they'd complain that it's shallow and sixist" Let's make them first and then worry bout whether its shallow and sixist.
I'd rather not simply because dividing options leaves less for one side. Hell, they can make a female-only Brink and I won't give a peep. But don't ask me to ditch half of what I was promised so some women can fight their adorable little equality struggle (read: receive advantages just for being female).
Adorable little equality struggle? *claps* You clearly don't get what it feels like to be a minority.
