Walk around a corner...

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:48 pm

I get insta-killed a lot, and I mean A THOUSAND WHALES FALLING ON YOU AT ONCE a lot. I had rented Brink and was playing single player offline, and all was well. Then I got to the level were the sniper rifles were unlocked, and holy crap do I hate to not be able to react to anything. I am a heavy, double buffed, and I walked around a corner, and I die, instantly.

Im guessing that it was a grenade blast plus a sniper shot, but holy hell do I get double shotted 30% of the time and triple shotted 40%. But here it gets weird, the other 30% of the time I can causally walk in front of the AI and they spray bullets everywhere but me.

So, what is this? An AI issue? Or something with the guns? Or is it the way Im moving? Just wut?

By a shotgun, buffed sniper rifle, or Operative Sticky Grenade, you can. Admittedly as a heavy 2/3 of those should be nigh on impossible.

I'm pretty sure if the OP says he's getting instakilled, he's getting instakilled.

@OP, I know the AI has deadly accuracy at later levels. As in instant headshots and crazy spin around 180 degrees and headshot you in half a second.

Well WTF? Why the hell would they do that? They should expand the capabilities of the the bots but not make them fuggin death machines. And on top of this you also have to carry your team on your back because they are inbred DERPERS.

They are murderous monsters but they can be pretty dumb too. They will ignore you for the most part if you stay passive, the only way I completed Be More Objective ** was to be passive until I could get one Grenade off to knock them all down giving me time to plant the hackbox, then I just hid and let the bots take the bullets until it was complete.

That sounds incredibly stupid. The best way to play the game is to... not play the game? What are the devs, monks?

While I love the game there is very little doubt that SD did not do a good job of balancing the AI, the AI are supposed to be there to enhance the game for the player, not to cause him frustration, which is currently the only thing they do.

While this is obviously a multiplayer first and a singleplayer second, the AI in Brink just isnt very well made.

Try multiplayer, trust me it is far more enjoyable.

it happened to me as well in few games, it happened in a game several times so i thought it was a hacker that managed to discover a glitch so he and his pal do something with the buffs and they got extra over powered, yeah i was a heavy guy and it came us a suprise, it could had been an aimbot as well, i dont know. Fortunatelly it just happened once or twice,

Yeah I NEVER play modes with bots.. it's [censored] how deadly they are and their super instant turn around shooting. I play competition or old skool setting.. no bots allowed. A much better experience.

The reason they made the AI better is because people were complaining about how stupid they were when the game came out. They released a patch that removed their "inhibitor" or whatever, which made them much, much more difficult.

I've never played offline besides the challenges, so I can't really vouch for how difficult they really are.

I play a heavy a lot online & im generally impressed by my survivability. With my chinzor i feel like a force to be reckoned with, which i think is the point of that build. Its not often im jus gunned down instantly. Normally I can look around & go "Oh, a grenade plus those two guys plus turret. Fair enough." As for bots, they do svck. They svck like a 40ft dyson.
