The flow of Morrowind mods has slowed to a grinding halt these last few weeks. Going through here, you hardly ever see a single release thread for anything. Most threads popping up are either request threads or lists of existing mods.

Personally, I blame OpenMW. We got our hopes up for a glorious new world of possibilities, but got squat once the creator's real life got in the way. (That's how it was for me, at least.)

I don't think the state of OpenMW has any bearing on mod production.

It's fall now, a lot of people are back in school/college. Also, this isn't the only forum that mods get discussed on.
Most importantly, mods take time to make. A LOT of time. You cannot expect a constant stream of Releases.

This... This is funny... And insulting... Like he assumes the mod making community ought to be at his beck and call bringing him a constant stream of updated mods...

I think for a game near a decade old during school months, Morrowind is doing well. Very well.

You should realise that people mod in their free time. The way you word your ideas suggest that you feel that the people behind OpenMW somehow owe you a quick release of their engine. They do not. I furthermore do not think OpenMW has anything to do with the overall pace of mod development.

Perhaps this thread should be closed now.

Just moving a house from one place to another takes a few minutes (at least for me), let alone creating an entire mod. It's normal people can't find time for making a mod now that the schoold/colleges have started. Besides, there are still a lot of mods coming out on PES. Don't you check it?

I've been here 5+ years more than you have... it's nothing to worry about, and barely noticed at this point.
Quality seems to be overpowering quantity, actually.

Not sure what OpenMW has to do with mod releases, but an above poster was right, mods are still being released on PES at a regular basis.

Actually, I think the community is in a very short temporary lull after a great surge of new releases. Of course it can't sustain that pace: the community is just too small to manage that anymore, but the quality and sheer scale of what's being released lately is generally miles above things that were done in the past which were considered "groundbreaking" back then.

If you want a lot of new mods made, there's always NifSkope, Blender, GIMP (or Photoshop), and TES Construction set. Have at it. Let us know when you've got 10 or 15 new mods.

Yea, a lack of releases may make it seem like its stagnated, but you have to realize, that there are mods being created that aren't being released as well as those that are, for instance, http://img194.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=mgescreenshot28.png is a mod that I've been working on for me personally, and while I'd consider releasing it, I would need permissions to do so, as I have merely taken two of Hedgehog's meshes(one of his steel helms, and his open Ebony helm) and altered the sizes and combined parts of them to make my own Ebony helm that was both full, and could still see that there was a face underneath it, not to mention the cropping of textures and uv edits, or the combining of a cape mesh to the left ebony pauldron so that it would sway back and forth semi-realistically and still look as though I had a pauldron equipped.

Besides, even if I were to ever actually try to get the permissions to release this, there is still quite a bit of touching up on the models and textures that would need to be done to make it release worthy, so I'm content with just using it as a personal mod for now.

Things have slowed down everywhere and on all forums, for all the games. It is the time of the year.

I'd like to add, by the way, that I know for a FACT that there are a lot of great things coming to Morrowind. Tamriel Rebuilt Map 3 is in the final stages of production. Dirnae and Djok are both working on really spectacular animation replacers. MGE is still developing in leaps and bounds, too: a new revision of the code JUST came out that supports brand new effects. New versions of shaders come out all the time.

Want more? Take a look at the WIP threads around. Atmospheric Cities, Morrowind Beasiary, Whispered Echoes, Melisande's Menagerie, Fort Sumwhyre, Death III, and more. Piratelord is working on a new version of his Creatures mod, I heard there was a new version of MCA in the works, and there was a new version of Khuul expansion that came out a few days ago.

I see less going on in the mod scenes for games that came out recently, and I don't think that OpenMW has had any effect on the mods being made.

It'll close soon, I'm sure.

But, as somebody said earlier, it's the beginning of the school and college season. People get back into it eventually, but people usually drop every free thing they have to make sure they don't fail academics. :P

Yeah, we don't need another topic like this, it's not gaining anything.
