I'd prefer strength. Slots can be annoying like in DA, but convenient like in WoW. Weight is more realistic though, and I like the endless bag mods if it really becomes a problem.

As said earlier, I wouldn't mind a volume measuring system, but it would be very hard to implement, as it's not only a question of volume unities, as the shape of the objects should be considered at least to some extent.

I think that it would be pushing it too far.
In my opinion, the best inventory system that we could have is something ala Diablo+TES (it has slots, but like in Diablo and not WoW, for example, but also you need to be strong enough to carry all that stuff).
This is system would be pretty real in my opinion, while still not pushing it too far with too many complications and stuff.
Stuff like keys would go on a keyring and would be in separate mini-menu (like gold).

Thank you!

You're welcome. :turned:

Also, it would be cool if we have 'Other' option in the poll.

Edit:
We should also be able to drop gold on the ground.
I personally loved to decorate my alchemy room with gold coins and stuff.
It look as if I'm studying gold in order to figure out how to turn iron into gold. ^_^

Everybody. STOP talking about grids. It's not going to happen. Grid based systems are WAY too clunky on consoles and they are most likely not going to code separate inventory systems. I promise you they will not go with a grid bases system. A volume system would be doable but unlikely since it adds another thing to keep track of and developers prefer streamlining things rather than making them more complicated just for the sake of realism

Maybe a system similar to this online game called shores of Hazeron would be nice. In that game, you can purchase bag things to hold more stuff than you normal body would, and these bags take up inventory slots, but have more slots below them. However, the determining factor in how much you fit in those bags, is how well you pack them, and how big the objects are that you carry. And if you carry too much, you will move slower due to the limits of your strength.

It simulates volume and encumbrance limits, including the volume of the items you carry.

Strength. Its one of those things where there is no point in changing it. The system worked great in previous bethesda games and I think it should stay as it is :}

Strength/constitution/endurance or whatever they're doing combined with some sort of volume mechanism is my ideal. OF course, if volume is included, there'd better be a bag of holding for looting them thar dragon lairs! ;)

I'll work with whatever they give me

Peraonaly, i would like to see a strength and bag slot combo. more strength, more bags. But with bags being like Diablo's bags, not WoW's

I don't give a crap how many "bag slots" you can carry, if you are carrying five claymores and three warhammers, you're gonna have a hard time moving. Strength.

Why would you want a huge inventory though? Just because there's lots of things that people drop, doesn't mean you actually should be able to take it all. Chose the best and take that.

Huge inventories represent to me the things you would have with you, but since daggerfall don't. Like a wagon, or pack mules. I mean really when you are looking for the treasure of the sierra madre do you just go with a backpack, or do you go with some way to carry the treasure out.

i voted for bag slots but in a more defined way... more like resident evil and silent hill. where items have different space requirements. like rings and such could take up a portion of a slot like 1/4, some amulets would take up 1/2. armour pieces could take up 1-4 slots depending on which piece. like helmet, gloves would take up one, boots, and pauldrons would take up 2, grieves and carious would be 4. now keep in mind this is only if it is in inventory and not equipped. equipped items will not appear in inventory. weapons could take up 1-4 slots. daggers, and throwing weapons would take up 1 (throwing weapons or arrows would stack up to 25 per slot) short swords and hatchets would take up 2. 1h swords, 1h axes, 1h mace, short bows, and light cross bows would take up 3. all 2h weapons, long bows, heavy cross bows, and spears will take up 4.

i would like to be able to up grade my inventory space with satchels, back packs, and utility belts.

i would also like to have to find quivers to be able to equip arrows instead of like in oblivion where if you find a stack of arrows on the ground and you dont have a quiver they magically generate you one. no i wont to have to find one to equip them. and there should be quivers with different arrow limits. like the first one you find at the begining could hold like 10. then you could eventually find them that could hold 50-75. 100 feels unrealistic to me. same thing goes for bolts as well.

You should put BOTH as a third option. Strength determines how much you can carry and bags determine where to put all your stuff. I physically can carry about 100 lbs, though not for very long at all. But depending on whether I'm holding it in my hands, over y shoulder, in a backpack, or in a satchel hanging by my side, makes a huge difference! So I say both bags and strength.

The only game I've seen do bag slots right is RE 4. Otherwise it's just plain annoying.
