speaking in skyrim

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:56 am

Hello every one. this is my first post on the forums and im very happy to join the community. so lets get to the point. we know that there will be dragon shouts so that means that the PC will have to speak then, but my question is if you guys think that we will actually speak in a conversation. Im by no means saying that our characters should randomly say things im just suggesting that, for example, when I select the option to say where is the nearest inn I want to actually hear my character ask where the inn is. tell me what you think. also if this has already been confirmed or posted befor I apologize. thank you.

Welcome to the forums!

Short answer, no. I don't think they'll have any dialog for the PC. That's more up Bioware's alley than Bethesdas.

I'm willing to bet it probably won't be in, but if you really want the full immersion you can just talk to your TV while clicking on the topic you want your character to talk about.

That's what I do, and probably why people look at me like I'm insane.

A lot of people don't WANT their characters to speak, because it's some voice actor as their character not them. But welcome to the forums, mate.

welcome to the forums :celebration:

and no it hasnt been confirmed. i mayliek the idea but it could ruin things if its not the voice you pictured for your char and so then they'd need to add a ton of voices to pick from which in turn would make it so you would need more voice actors etc. basically just much easier for them to just not have u talk except for dragon shouts. thats my guess at least

Welcome to the posting community! :celebration:

I doubt this will be in. However, they did already say how extensively they worked on each race and six using the Dragonshouts, so it is reasonable. I think it would just be too much work and not enough gain for the gameplay or for Bethesda's profits as a whole.

There's always Mass Effect 3 for more hilarious lines from Shepard and crew.....

I see your point. I just figured they would use the same voice they used for the shouts but now that you make the point that beople would want to customize it I can see where it would get to be a little much for the devs. well at least I can dream lol

That's a lot of voice recording for fans who don't even want it...

Welcome have a http://images.wikia.com/tesfanon/images/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg I don't think the player will have a voice when it comes to conversation and replying. TES has always been you as the player are the main character so I don't think he will be speaking in dialogue, though I could be wrong.

Have you ever done that in a what you later realized was a terrible british accent trying to sound all authentic then muttered, "I hope nobody heard that..." ??

Or am I the only one? ^_^

Having a voice for the PC works well in games where who the PC is is chosen for you, like the ME games. In games like the TES series, though, where it's the player that defines who the PC is, a voice doesn't work. At least in my mind.

first of all...velcum and we all love you
second: i think that they might stay with the voiceless man, unless they make it so you can choose your voice.
i doubt it however
