Wheel of Fortune broken

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:07 pm

I'm trying to do the quest Wheel of Fortune. I spoke to Logan and hacked the computer, which sent me to Nipton to talk to Boxcar. I'd spoken to Boxcar when I went there several game-days ago, for the quest to scout the place, and gave him 5 med-x (or was it stimpacks, I forget) for his legs. The problem is, now, when I talk to him, it only gives me the one dialogue option that ends the conversation. So, I'm stuck.

I had previously found the "Hidden Stash" cave, or whatever it's called, but at the time didn't have the lockpick skill to go in. I assumed this is where I would be sent, and it seems I was right. Inside, there's a single radiation suit, and two empty crates which I guess would have more radiation suites inside, were the quest working properly. I had a couple other radiation suites at my motel room, so I tried bringing them all to Logan, but he won't acknowledge me. There doesn't seem to be a way around it. Did talking to Boxcar earlier break it? If so, that's a bit silly, since you are almost guaranteed to go to Nipton before you go to Searchlight.

I don't know what else to do. Oh, and I'm playing the 360 version, if that matters.

I hadn't found the cave prior to speaking with Boxcar (I'd given him 2 Med-X when i first went through Nipton). He tells me where to look for the missing supplies, so I didn't have any issues with the dialog. But when I go into the cave, I only find one radiation suit (and a Grognak the Barbarian). The quest tab is still telling me to locate the radiation suits, and the local map is pointing me to the middle of the cave, but there's nothing left to find.

Well, good to know it's not just broken in one circumstance. :\

There should be an item in one of the boxes called Radiaton Suit stash/pack. You're not actually giving him individual radiation suits. If you can find this then you're sorted.

I also found this bugged. Had talked to Boxcar earlier when I first got to Nipton, and now can not get his dialog to show anything but "goodbye". I went to the Hidden Supply Cave, but only found the 1 Rad suit on top of an empty footlocker, another footlocker that had some random junk in it, a first aid box with some supplies, and a Grognak the Barbarian. nothing else is interact-able.

I to have the same problem but on ps3, i had discovered nipton before the quest started and i gave boxcar what he needed and now that im on the quest, its telling me that i still need to talk to someone in nipton about the supply cave and rad suits. every time i approach him he says "what do you want" and my only available response is goodbye, so i went out to find cave on my own and did, and i too only found one suit but my quest marker keeps leading me back to boxcar? I was thinking about going straight to logan but thanks for saving me the time. Is this lke the helous one quest where it told me to talk to someone about missing carrivan only to discover that theres no one to talk to but when i found carravan on my own the quest was completed. To many problems for a game i couldn't wait to be released and now i just want to beat the main missions and move on to another tittle. Its to bad

I gueass I've been luckier than you. This is the only completely, unsolvably broken quest I've come across. A few more have had some wierdness, like things being referenced that hadn't happened yet or whatever, but there are so many others that are fine. I'm still loving it, and enjoying it. Just wish they'd done some more testing, is all.

I'm having the same issue, did anyone find a work around? I thought it might be a faction issue (the Powder Gangers list me as a "merciful thug") so I grabbed some of their clothing and Boxcar still won't talk to me... anyone know the ref ID for the required package?

Man, I wish I could've gotten this on PC, but mine just can't run it. Guess I'll just have to hope it works on my second playthrough. I doubt they'll fix it for consoles.
