Creatures you would like to see in skyrim

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:40 pm

Dragons! Er... wait.

Mammoths!... Nvm.

Giants! Toolate.

Really though, more unique creatures, Scribs, Shalks, Kagouti's, Alits, and yes, even the Cliff Racers, added a sense of foreign atmosphere to Morrowind that was really lacking in Oblivion. I mean, We've all seen Minotaurs, Trolls and whatnot, I want some really unique Fauna. I wouldn't count Daedra among them, since things like Scamps, Dremora, Golden Saints, ect are more akin to demons than animals.

Did Oblivion even have any Game-unique animals? I mean, even the Mudrabs were no bigger than what you see on the Discovery Channel now. Still, their pincers are sharp.

Wild werewolves... I think that could be pretty scary if they do them right. Out in the woods at night with nothing but your torch, here rustling behind you and you turn around only to find nothing there, then you continue on when suddenly you are attacked from the side by a 8ft beast.

I think they should make some kind of stalking AI where they will follow you from the distance for a few minutes before attacking you. That would definitely add to the creepy factor if you can see it off in the distance but cant attack. Or possibly hearing the werewolf off in the distance before it charges and attacks.

The most important thing to me isn't as much any specific creature as it is a variety of creatures. I hope there are at least as many as there were in Oblivion or more. I'd also like to see some variety of flying creature other than dragons that are actually capable of vertical movement (not something like imps from Oblivion and boat flies from Fallout 3). Also, unlike some seem to be here, while I'd like to see some creatures return, I'd also like to see some new ones.

Werewolves, sea creatures and big insects(not bigger than the character). Wasps, spiders, locusts and beetles would be nice. Oh, and bats for the feeling in caves and the woods at night.

ARENA got female monsters like Medusas
DAGGERFALL got sixy Daedra Seducers
MORROWIND got beautiful Winged Twilights
OBLIVION got Spider Daedras
therefore
SKYRIM deserves Evil Seamaidens (already in the lore. Check the statue in Anvil.)

I never played Morrowind but reading up on Bloodmoon, I'd definitely like to see something like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Karstaag. :hehe:

Edit: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:War_Durzog#War_Durzog would also be a nice touch. I can picture myself wandering around in the eastern edges of Skyrim just to find one drinking from a river. It looks up, sees me then dives into the water only to emerge from the other side of the bank and run towards me much like the wolf we saw in the trailer. Some http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ogrim#Ogrim wouldn't hurt either.

I think they should make some kind of stalking AI where they will follow you from the distance for a few minutes before attacking you. That would definitely add to the creepy factor if you can see it off in the distance but cant attack.

This sounds awesome. Perfect AI for mah http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:War_Durzog#War_Durzog. :ninja:

They really do need things that are as imaginative as the creatures in Morrowind. Probably a major reason Morrowind was so amazing was that it was unlike anything else but real at the same time. It didn't borrow too much from common fantasy creatures, fauna, and architecture but it was all so BELIEVABLE that you never really question any part of the world. They need realistic looking monsters in Skyrim that you could never find anywhere else.

Huge salamanders that walk on two legs, horned reptiles that fight like a bull, large flightless birds with feathers like a penguins, a khajit subspecies that is patterned like a tiger and is stronger but dumber, humanoid creatures half the size of men with dark leathery skin and green eyes. As long as you don't go too off the books and make it seem like it fits in the world you can make plenty of creatures that awaken the imagination of people playing the game but don't seem like aliens in their own world.

Honestly I'm more interested in seeing some new creatures. Creatures mentioned in the lore but ones we haven't seen yet. Like the Kamal snow demons.

About The Adoring Fan... How about his grandson? The Annoying Fan.

Anyways Mudcrabs, Werewolves, wolves, Ice Demons, Tahriel (It's Raining Mer, Alleluyah It's Raining Mer!), I would Like To See A Wild Caius Cosades and Some White Snow Bears.

Snow Griffons, Wolves that run in packs, Kodiak bears, Polar bears (maybe a massive bear hidden in a remote den up north), Salmon / Trout I can hunt for, Hawks and Eagles not so much to hunt, but seen flying and heard screeching to add to the atmosphere and wilderness setting.

I thought stuff like this too but then I realized having too many REAL creatures makes the world seem a lot less exciting

Love this idea. Would be awesome to have more enemies that are sneaky like that to keep you on your toes the whole time. Be great to have some of the giant spiders maybe hiding in the shadows up on the cave ceilings and walls and dark corners and then drop down and attack you when they see you. That would keep me scanning the ceiling all the time and always on edge. Maybe some sort of living statue guardians or gargoyles or whatever that would only animate once you passed them or something would be cool too.
