House Interiors being single cells?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:47 pm

I remember way back hearing towns and cities will not be seperated by cells hence the whole city gate loading sequence.

Since this has been confirmed due to the dragon fights that might occur will interiors be treated the same with big mansions and castles being in a single cell rather than loading sections of hallways or seperate rooms.

I just found it annoying to go from one load screen to the next. I don't mind load screens but they needed to be spaced out a bit.

Do you think its possible with the technology? Could consoles handle a bunch of clutter items in one space?

I'd assume they are going to be closer to Morrowind than Oblivion but still large buildings will probably be divided cells. I'm no techie but if memory serves Bethesda's primary mode of optimization was level of detail versus distance. Considering interior spaces need lots of detail all around (even above which isn't necessary to have as a detailed texture in exterior spaces) they would likely have little chance to use this optimization indoors so I would imagine they have to keep divided cells. I'm just speculating though

I used the search but only looked in titles and did not include windows. Whoops.

I dunno that the later is confirmation of the former. I think that might be stretching it a little.

That's the kicker isn't it, can the consoles handle it? Again, I haven't seen much official word on it, but I doubt it.
