4GB Maximum

Not sure what you're getting at by repeating the comment about my mods and your situation with high memory usage. You have 250 mods, or so you said. That's the reason you're eating up memory. By the time you reach that point, anything could push it over the edge including something innocuous like a GMST tweak.

Then you say you don't have anywhere near 200 mods. One is left to wonder then what you're getting at here.

RAEVWD is a visual enhancement, and takes up a modest amount of VRAM. Impact on system memory should be negligible. OC doesn't take up anything more than playing the game without it since it simply shifts access to the exact same resources to a different location. All Natural may take up a bit more, but since it doesn't add boatloads of NPCs and AI packs, it's probably not taking up a significant enough amount to matter.

You haven't said what else of mine you're using, but I doubt my village mods have gone down in history as memory hogs.

In fact, you haven't said what you're using at all, other than FCOM, or been specific enough about your system specs to make much of a judgment about the over all problem. For all any of us knows, you're on a laptop with a shared memory pool.

my intention wasn't to hint that your mods were any cause to large memory usage, i was just wanted to comment that i use every single one of your mods and since you were helping me I figured id go ahead and ask if any of them may have required more than a moderate amount of texture memory which is fine. seems you answered all those questions pretty good though. i didn't really go about listing mods or anything since i originally made the thread for HOW to enable 4gb rather than what was using up all my memory which I could probably figure out myself with some testing or make a new thread specified toward that problem later on. i appreciate all the help, i can run the game a good while now before a crash... just depends where and what im doing.

thanks

I have the same problem like Xxx_tricky_xxx - I'm not sure this works for me. 8 g. ram , 64 bits OS.
For time to time, after a few hours of playing I get CTD not dependent to places or situation.

1. I've tried OSR heap mode 5, for me "blue screen" a cup of time after loading save. Mode 1 works fine.I have some idea how to resolve this and if it will be working and will not make my system unstable I will post. Maybe it will be useful for someone.

2. About patching obse loader. I will try, but loader is ... a loader only, it does what it should do, says "bye" and goes to sleep, isn't it?

3. The worse for me is I can't run game in window mode at all and don't know how to test memory usage for fullscreen game. If someone knows how and wants to share
this knowledge it will be nice.

When I used the patch I did not notice a difference with just patching Oblivion. It was not until I saw this thread and also patched the loader as well that I noticed a difference. In exteriors have now been running crash free. Get an occasional crash in and near some better cities, not often, a tangent space parameters issue of some kind.

Man... I would have to go back over my previous topic to remember whether or not patching the OBSE loader in addition to the Oblivion.exe made any difference.
If memory serves me correct, patching the OBSE loader didn't have any effect. If anything, the additional crashing that presists after using
a 4gb patch would be due to too heavy of a mod load in most cirumstances.
