Resistance gets a HUGE advantage on alot of the maps...

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 2:51 pm

Has anybody else noticed this? (That's probably a dumb question, you have). I remember some of the Battlefield maps were like that too, though. I guess it's hard to balance this kind of game perfectly. If a thread like this has already been posted somewhere, freakin' sue me. Great job on the game overall, graphics were disappointing IMO.

Depends on the map.

If there's a hacking objective, the defenders have the advantage. The Security hacking missions are worse than the Resistance ones because of the map layouts. But overall, even though Resistance get more defense missions, the game seems (to me) fairly balanced between Security and Resistance.

I play as Security more often, and I win about as often regardless of which side I'm playing as. That goes for offline (where I pretty much exclusively win on either side now that the AI is less stupid), and online (where it's only slightly better than 50/50 odds in favour of victory)

You can get spawn-camped on BOTH sides of that map.

I know, because I've done it to Resistance a couple of times.

In my opinion, the Resistance Campaign is a total cakewalk... until you get to Refuel. Dear god, it's just about as bad as taking on Terminal as Security.

Never noticed that being Security was harder when I was winning. Odd.

You know that spawn changes from every objective achieve in game, so things quickly turn tables.

regardless i hardly notice any advantages other than your standard: Defenders always got a slight upperhand wich is natural. You just gotta think alittlebit more when attacking.
Regardless,Container city is pretty easy to attack, since there are so many "hidden" routes. just use them if the defence is to strong, and get behind the enemie. works for me everytime. and i play medium soldier. Best thing is to place snatchel charges outside their spawn entrances and wait for the man-train to come out.

Yes, it does. That's the entire goal for a match, to utilise teamwork & tactics to best another team and achieve victory. Fun is the most important, but if the game was only about having fun they may as well let us all loose and do what we please, rather than progressing through a series of objectives as a team.

Its just as easy to do to resistance on the level where they try and break into the prison.

Defenders tend to have more of an advantage especially so if you are playing with Hard bots. However, when playing against humans I think the defenders only have a slight edge over the attackers but that's the name of the game. Defenders can camp and set up shop while the attackers have to sprint to the objective and try to complete it in time.

"whoever doesn't work like a team is screwed..."

Very true.

"whoever is attacking is screwed."

Yeah, maybe the title of the thread was a bit off, I've noticed now that on some maps Security defends, and then they seem to have an advantage. So I guess that's what I was getting at. Escorting that prisoner as Resistance makes me wanna throw my controller. But good lord, that guy is tough!

Yeah, I voted that they were both equal, as per your latest revelation.

Generator Defending as Security is like free XP.

Don't panic. Hard is easier. The friendly AI gets a bigger increase in intelligence than the enemies do when you turn the difficulty up. I couldn't do it UNTIL I turned it to Hard.
