Should have done my research? LOL!

1. If you really did your research on the game you would have known from the start that there would be no TDM modes in this game.

Should have been /thread right there, honestly...

so your telling me that sd and bethesda did this game to sell less than 400,000 copies (the returned number has yet to be posted, im sure its alot, 3 people from my friends list have returned it, and thats out of 4 that bought it, not me though, im still playing it) they spent millions of dollars to cater to a small group? LOL! thats why they spent god knows how much on marketing and advertising? just to cater to the small group that bought it?GTFOOH....They would have loved for it to have sold millions of copies, but it didnt...And the white elephant in the room is why...when they come out with brink 2 i will buy it on release day just the same, and i bet the multiplayer will mirror cod alot more than the piece o crap that they have now...

I'll take that bet! No it will not mirror CoD in any way! Brink 2 will just be more of the present game style, but with better objectives and better matchmaking. They will improve an all ready great gameplay to be even better. They just need to polish the game before release, although I think they were preasured into releasing the game before it was polished. Brink will never have CoD style gameplay, you can bank on it.

It's funny. People blatantly come on these forums to talk trash about this game and praise COD. Who are you trying to convince? Who are you going to convince? ...nobody. You don't think people have played COD or know about it? If they wanted COD they would play COD not Brink. Please go away no one wants to hear you "try" and ostracize anything unless it is constructive.. which I highly doubt.

Brink doesn't need CoD multiplayer... but it would be well served if it mimic'd it's matchmaking.

My one true gripe about Brink is that it does a pretty poor job of matchmaking to maximize PvP games.

speaking of polish, as the old saying goes, "you cant polish a turd".... and the multi player aspect of the game is a turd... so now your telling me that sd and bethesda arent going to make changes that could possible get their sales of this game from under 400,000 units to the millions? LOL! keep lying to yourself...

explain why less than 400,000 units sold then.... in cod, you have to be smart and quick, try to know what your oponent is going to do, this game is quite the opposite (multi player) and i geuss i need to explain to you the definition of ostrcize, its to banish someone or some thing, im not trying to get rid of anything, just think next go round they should have more multiplayer options... keep what they have now to keep simple minded people such as your self happy...

yes, if they could do that, it would be a big step in making this game a little more playable...

I've removed several posts that were flaming the OP and folks that play CoD.

We need to get it across to folks why this game is not CoD and never meant to be. We need to encourage people to want to try something different and we can't do that by posting in their threads just to flame them. We need to use a mature and respectful approach to let folks know that this isn't supposed to and was never meant to complete with CoD, rather it was a game for doing something different and that different approaches and creative risks can be enjoyable.

I mean CoD is a good game but making the comparison really only goes to show that someone does not yet understand Brink and what it is. It's a very fun game done in a very different way. It's ok for someone to come here and make such comparisons in a respectful way and it's up to us to then explain in a respectful way and then they can go back and play some more CoD or gain understanding of what Brink is, which is a different sort of shooter and come to love it.

We always attract more fans with a bit of understanding than with an inferno.

I can some what agree with that statement, i am playing brink a little here and there, my op stated that i believe there would be alot more players (copys sold) if there multi player had cod style to it, i made sure to put i dont think they should get rid of the present style, just add some cod style and alot more people would play, and the people that like it the way it is wouldnt have to change a thing...i did follow the game for well over a year, and multiple times it was advertised to have a new spin on multiplayer along with the same type of multiplayer everybody loves. i seriously would not have bought this game if i would have known that the multiplayer was so broken and out in left field...i am just trying to get a voice out there so that maybe 2-3 years from now when brink 2 comes out it caters a little more to the cod fans that would like a different game but with a similar style multi player as cod.. we have seen the results of sales doing it this way, maybe in a few years we can see the results of my idea...and its not like im the only one that thinks this, i personally can speak for over 20 people on my friends list... we shall see i geuss

I have put 80+ hours in Brink and still having a blast. Sorry, but many games have come out before COD, and many will come out after, and a game doesn't have to sell like COD or be like COD to be successful. If Brink sells a few million copies it is a huge success for a BRAND NEW IP. Besides, COD is the McDonalds of Video games. Not an apples to apples comparison between Brink and COD anyway, since one is a Team Based FPS and the other is recycled by 2 separate Developers and is more like Madden Football, same game with a 2, 3, or a 4.

Nobody, no company has to "cater to" anyone. I don't think they made this game to "cater to" folks who like CoD nor did they expect to pull folks away from it. It's like WoW players who think The Elder Scrolls would be so much better if it were an MMO. It's not and has a following of it's own. There are plenty of TES fans to support it with or without those who are hooked on WoW. Of course WoW is a great game but I could never play it forever. Same with CoD. It's a good game but this game does and will have it's followers and hopefully enough to make it a successful game that will continue to improve and tweek things until it picks up more fans. We really don't need anyone to stop playing their favorite game because this one doesn't appease them. Nobody is trying to make someone like this game. You don't have to. It's a matter of choice.

I like Brink more than CoD to tell the truth, my son doesn't and that's ok because you know....different strokes for different folks.

But really, folks need to understand that just because they enjoy more CoD in their games doesn't mean everyone does. So folks who really like Brink do get a bit tired of folks coming to say it's not CoD. We know it isn't and it's why many, many of us do love this game. Because some of us have had our fill of CoD and want something a bit different.

Just like you wouldn't want CoD to be more like Brink. ;)

companies are in buisness to make money, and sd and bethesda are no different, if they see a way for them to double the units they sold, or triple the units sold from the the last time, they are going to do it. who in their right mind would accept a lower bottom line? When you step into a specific market such as a fps, you HAVE NO CHOICE but to compete with the big boys, and if tweaking what they have, learning from their mistakes will help them be more competitive, you can bet your sweet buttocks they are going to do it....your points are crazy, you ask any dev from sd or bethesda and they will tell you they would love to win over the cod loyalists, i would love for them to do it, if they pulled it off, they would have copys sold in the millions, not just a few hundred thousand...

Yes, they make games to make money and they make games to attract more people. However, nobody knows about starting a new concept and building a fanbase that gets progressively larger than Bethesda. It's how they did it. And...making the same thing, aping other companies and other games generally just gets them a write off as a carbon copy company.

I am so happy that SD did not make just another CoD. I would have been so disappointed.

If you think me crazy for thinking this way then you may think right but here we call that flaming to tell someone they are crazy and anyone who flames a moderator might belong in that group themselves.

Rome was not built in a night. Brink fans will trickle in over time or they won't. If this one is profitable, they will gain a few more with each game. That is how you build something new and catching, not by stealing fans and aping other companies and games.

Fat Cleo should just go play COD then instead of trying to convert yet another game to his personal preference because numbers don't lie. I don't care about numbers, I care about fun and Brink is fun. Sorry you don't like it but that doesn't give you the right to turn this game into something it isn't. Brink could only benefit from your absence.

I'm surprised this has gotten to as many pages as it has. Cleo has stated his views and we have stated ours. We will not change his views and he will not change ours. This conversation is effectively over.

You are right and I'm pretty sick of playing moderator in this thread so....it is locked.

Both sides do their fair share of flaming and all flaming gets around here is warnings and deletion.

Some day I will walk into one of these threads and see informative reasonable exchanges of ideas and thoughts posted in a respectful manner. Until then....
