[RELz] ScreenEffects v1.0 - In-game Visual Enhancement Enabl

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:03 am

Doubtful, as qzilla has left the scene. You can look into the OGE thread for related shaders.

Hmm, too bad.

OGE looks very promising, but it's directed for players IFAIK. There are no tools for modders there...

Did anyone ever make a fix for the buggy DLL in this mod?

I've recently been having crashing problems loading cells and I remembered that ScreenEffects usually crashes on cell transitions...

I also noticed CTD from time to time when changing cells, now I see this may be caused by SE. Have anyone heard about a fix for that?

What kind effects are you looking for ? Once OBGEv2 foes beta, I can look into working on something like this mod.

Not sure about the debugged version of OBGEv1, but the version in development fixes the crashes.

Well, actually any effect made toggleable with some degree of control over it's intensity would be very nice. Even simple RGB channel control would be welcomed.

Wait... so OBGE fixes a SE error?

um, no. That CTD was caused due to the particular hook code the initial release used to render the HUD elements.

I would like something like that as well

Edit: so was the SE bug ever fixed?

There never was a bug in SE. Only bugs in OBGE, which SE was reliant on. Scanti's work on OBGEv2 fixes those bugs, and exposes new information, but it's still in alpha stage.

Before I'm considering using this mod, I wonder if someone could help me answer these questions:

1. Can I play the mod without screencontrols (so I don't have to use pluggy, because I've heard it has some big bugs). If so, how do I change the different things (gloom, brightness, etc etc) without screeneffects?

2. Does this mod give an fps hit? If so, how big (approximately)?

I actually found this thread using the search function. That has improved but I'm not liking how topics are listed when you look at a profile. Ah well.

A while back http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1137696-oblivion-graphics-extender/page__view__findpost__p__16699042 which I thought were linked to OBGEv2 (and may still be) but they didn't go away when I deactivated OBGEv2, but they did when I deactivated Screen Effects. I forgot whether I tested with only screen effects - I'm pretty sure I did.

What will happen is that the character will be in first person and then if a lightning/shock based magic effect occurs then it can cause serious screen effects. They can occur if the magic effect is on another NPC and can stick to the character as long as in the same cell and if in first person. The distortion immediately goes away in 3rd person. This will persist well after the magic effects are not being used.

It often starts at the bottom of the screen and will with the changing angle take over the whole screen up to eventually take over the entire screen. A recent gate crawl had it occur many times and resulted in much loss of life from my character dying from not being able to respond in combat to killing his comrades from missing.

Not expecting any miracle cure - but maybe someone would know immediately the issue.

Wait I have a correction that didn't hit me till after I slept on it.

The problem I'm reporting above is on a load order that does not have Screen Effects at all, but rather OBGE.

And yes apparently the OBGE shader color mood also causes this - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143824-oblivion-graphics-extender/page__view__findpost__p__16778844.
