You SHOULD Keep This Game

Ok right, they didnt found it, they were hired by them....
Team Fortress is a team- and class-based online multiplayer video game mod based on id Software's Quake. Team Fortress was designed and written by Robin Walker, John Cook and Ian Caughley in 1996.

The premise of the game is a class-based battle between opposing sides, Red and Blue. Players are defined by which class they select (the classes being Medic, Sniper, Soldier, Demoman, Pyro, Spy, Heavy, Scout, or Engineer), with each class having strengths and weaknesses. Each class also has unique weapons (e.g. Pyro has the flamethrower and Heavy has the minigun) and abilities (e.g. Scout being able to run the fastest and Medic being able to heal teammates).

A player can either choose to be on the red or on the blue team. On community maps or through the use of custom skins, players may also choose to be on a green or yellow team. The objectives of play can vary, including traditional objectives such as capture the flag or controlling a point(s) on the map. Another mode involves delivering a payload to the enemy's base while the other team defends, or have two teams race to deliver a payload.

WOW That sounds JUST LIKE BRINK...THATS AMAZING...not really as BRINK IS NOT INNOVATIVE OR NEW!

...Dude, play a little before you rant.

QTF doesn't get Parkour, Weapon customization, Ability customization, Singleplayer, Plot of any sort, Revives, Official maps, Player customization...

BRINK does.

It's like saying a car is the same thing as a bike. Gears. Axels. Wheels. Gets you places. Clearly the same thing.

Too bad Splash Damage implements all those things poorly. TF is the better game.

You miss the whole point. BRINK is TF with more bells and whistles. Its as simple as that. Its undeniable. Yes it has parkour, character customization and so on but that does NOT make it innovative. I have played plenty. Unfortunately the lagggg on 360 sux so bad there are minimal people playing. I dont want to play BOTS. I didnt buy this game to play bots.

official maps???? really? TF was a free mod and in the end had FAR more maps then BRINK will ever have. It didnt matter if they were "official" or not. They were good, fun maps.

Am I saying that BRINK is not fun? NO...

Am I saying that I hate BRINK? NO

Am I saying TF was better? NO

What am I saying? BRINK IS NOT INNOVATIVE. Thats as clear as can be. Like it, hate it, accept it, deny it...facts are facts.

Well, in that sense, nothing is innovative. TF is just a rehash of Quake. Quake is just DOOM with 3D. DOOM (Or, if you really want to go that far, Wolfenstien 3D) is just a movie that you can interact with. Movies are just books with a lot of pictures. Books are just tellings of life, real or imagined. Life is just a creation of other being's life.

Agreed
CoD quit innovating after #4. Everything has been downhill since.
And even then, CoD is just a MoH clone. Ya know why? The same guys that made MoH Frontline, also did CoD 1,2,4,MW2. West and Zampella
They're gone and MW3 will svck just as bad as MW2 and BlackCox.

This game is awesome, ON XBOX 360. Incredible battles, cool abilities, unique characters, fast-paced action mixed with the brains and tactics of BF.
Yeah it's no BC2, but hell, how do you top that? You might say that BC2 was a lot better and it was 60$ too.
Well off the shelf maybe, but when you add VIP, Onslaught, Vietnam, and Specact, you're talkin' over 100$. (I have all, and the $ was well spent, close to 350 hrs in that game. What's that work out to? $.35 an hour?pfft)

I can only imagine what another 40$ worth of DLC could do to this game. Would certainly hold me over till BF3.

Well, what can I say for all those people out there who are complaining how bad this game svcks and its not like most FPS games and its not Call of Duty's baby sister, stick to what you know. This game is not meant to be like Call of Duty and everything else and you would know this if you researched your games before you bought them. Yeah, fair enough it lags and the AI is pants but most games are fairly unplayable when they are first released. The AI is rubbish to let you get used to controls and how the guns work, then once you reach Rank 3 then boom, you have a fight on your hands. I actually love this game and hope the patch or the DLC will solve the main issues with the game, and obviously Bethesda have realised how much the issues have affected us to give us the DLC for free in June (please hurry up and release a date).

With the online side of the game people are asking for TDM and other things that you rack up kills, it is not neccessary. If you want to go round killing people be an Engineer with turrets and mines with a Heavy class and try cover poeple who actually like to complete objectives, at least you are kinda working as part of the team. If not, then Call of Duty does still love you even though youi have played a different game. This game is great especially if you are defending an objective and you plant a mine and turret in a hidden place.

For the DLC in June I would love to see more guns, maps, extra single player levels aswell as even more challenges. If they had to just do the DLC for maps and bug fixes that would be great as long as another pack was released shortly after.

I'm not doing this to single out the Call of Duty [censored]/girls from everyone else as I have already ordered MW3 but this game needs to be looked at with a different perspective as it is something fresh and its about time.

Add me on PS3

Ugh, I don't know why people make threads like this :( It just ends up getting people into fights about call of duty. I say we all drop this hate for COD and just try to get along. BRINK is nothing like COD true but that's no reason to deouce the COD players as [censored]/girls, they like that style of game and that's their perogitive to do so. Liking just one kind of shooter is your choice. And when it comes to the excuse of "you didn't do your research" bottom line is that most of us did. BRINK was advertised as having an engaging single player narritive which it failed to deliever on, there are game breaking network problems on the xbox 360 and the "near endless customization" didn't come anywhere close to what it promised, the maps usually aren't designed to really encompass the smart system as well as they could be and while I personally agree that 8 maps is a little on the small side it's pretty much the standard these days. And to top it off from the gameplay demo videos that were released before BRINK came out the graphics and gameplay were seriously dumbed down from what they used to be. BRINK just failed to deliever all that was promised and live up to it's potential upon release, however, that doesn't mean that it isn't an excelent game that has alot of potential to become one of the better objective based shooters out there. So yes people were disappointed upon release because the game wasn't exactly what we expected, but it's still a relatively decent game and while at the moment I don't think it was worth the $60 I paid for it (I feel it should have been around half that price just for lack of content) I'm sure that once the dlc comes out it'll be worth the money I paid for it, i just wish it would have come with the disk. <_<

HISTORY TIME! The original TeamFortress was released on August 24, 1996 and Wolf: Enemy Territory was released on 29 May 2003.

To make one thing abundantly clear W:ET was based on the original TF formula and it was an improvement with an exp system and decent objective based game play aside from the time old ctf (plus it's map variants like "the rock", "engineer war" & "spazzball"). Brink is basically and in all essence W:ET3 so still comparing it to TF after its initial launch almost 8 years ago is getting a little old and i'm sure the entire community is sick and tired of hearing it just as much as i am.

There will always people that will state “i prefer this game over that one”, “this game is the same” and various other statements so bearing that in mind: Has it been said before, is it relevant, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

Whilst i have ignored one of the above questions in posting this (i did have a reason to say it but yes, i'm a hypocrite thanks for pointing that out) you would think that common sense would dictate that regurgitating the same thing over and over gets a little tedious; alas common sense is a super power these days...

I'll simply say that it's a good game if you have the patience to put up with the people you dislike and the time it takes for the devs to fix the issues.

Lastly i’d like to apologise for this post as im sure the mods will smack me upside the head for it and i’ll cop a lot of flaming as a result of it as well.

COD is the yardstick by which all games are measured by...So, unfortunately, when you measure this game up to COD, it comes up very short, you dont have to take my word for it though, just look at their over all sales and returns of this game, look at the low number of people playing it online, more people are still playing world at war online than this game. In their hasty attempt to be different, they ran themselves right out of the market...

If you are concerned that the sales figures of Brink have not surpassed those of CoD, then you might have a point. Maybe they should've churned out another modern shooter and you can ignore the rest of my text. If you care about gameplay you might want to read on.

Executive Summary: By looking at sales, you can tell which game sold the most but you will never be able to determine which game is the best. That is a mission impossible.

There is no yardstick game but the one in your own mind since gaming is entirely built around the player's personal liking and tastes differ. I haven't seen anyone go out claiming that Cindy Crawford is the yardstick woman by which all other women should be measured against. Such claim would be derided as utter stupidity and therefore nobody makes such claim because it is understood that tastes in women differ. Football is the biggest sport is the world. Can you from that deduce that volleyball is a crap sport (COD is FPS, Brink is FPS, Football includes a ball, Volleyball includes a ball)? Some game has to be the highest seller out there, right? It happens to be WoW as far as I understand it. In the shooter category I guess it is COD. I don't play either of them. I tried hard liking COD but I just couldn't get over the shallow teenage feeling and weak sound so I don't own a single COD game. I play Killzone for FPS mostly. I wouldn't go out and say Killzone is better than any other shooter, but I do say I prefer it over any other FPS.
