I love Brink. I play it online with my brother every day.

It's just a matter of taste.

Though one thing that I detest though is when people go out of their way to slam something. Just doesn't make sense.

Don't like the lag, framedrops and sometimes poor graphics quality (xbox)
For the rest it is a lot of fun.

BRINK is a fun game that takes time to understand. The reason why people dislike it is because the launch of the game was anything but smooth. Im on 360 and the networking and bugs can be attrocious at times. Where is this patch that was supposed to come out this week? Its Thursday and nothing. Seems fishy but once the lag and tech issues are resolved that will be sweet.

my main gripe with Brink is that it's lacking SOMETHING...the campaign is entirely too short, the classes are useless outside of Medic and Engineer. Soldiers maybe 3 objectives that I can sincerely think of ..blow up the door on CCity, Blow the bridge and wall on I think tower and that's it. Operative is more a suppressive class.

Customization isn't as fleshed out as they made it out to be.

Aiming is horrible in this game, you're better off just firing from the hip.

And finally, there just aren't enough maps. The maps are way too small so it's easier to hold a choke point for most of the match. Which means it's frustrating if you aren't on the defending team.

Don't get me wrong though, the game is fun at times, but was it worth a 3 year delay and a $65 price tag? Not at all. With the delay I expected more of a game and definitely not as buggy.

Brink is my favorite FPS to date, IMO it has lived up to what I read and watched before launch. I cannot figure out the hate myself, aside from the possibility of people thinking it would be another mindless shooter. I love objective based shooters and this is the best I have played. I have played everything from team fortress to killzone objectives and I say brink is very well designed. Brink has my full support and I want to thank splash damage for a great game and free DLC.

Poor... everything. Lag, graphics, balance, bland design, and limited content with a high price tag. It also under utilizes parkour, I wanted Mirror's Edge death match, [censored] would have been awesome. Instead I got this buggy pile of [censored] where you can climb on crates, fantastic... no. Teamfortress 2 does parkour better because I can rocket jump where I need to go and other methods. It just fell flat everywhere but the stylistic design, the game that could've been. Oh well off to go play Witcher 2.

This game is so disliked because its not a easy shooter. When I look how most people play online (I′m on PS3) I must say, that they don′t understand the Game.
People handle this game like a 0/8/15 (simple) Shooter. The round start and they run away. Aim for the main object without Buffing, without tactic, without the commandposts and than they come to complain, because they get span trapped for example.

Best sample is that many people think that there is a lack of Parkour. There is so many Parkour in this game but its not in front of your nose, you have to look out for it!

Like I said, I′m on PS3 and Bug/Glitch and Lag free. I can understand that people are pissed, when they have technikal problems with the game but tbh I think that this are not sooo many.

Oh and of course whining is always louder than applause!

Awesome post, brother. This is what I see sometimes too from the whiners.

Meh, it`s just always the same. I don`t want to say it in every single post: i do love Brink for what it is, but there are major issues from the gameplay up to freezes and other annoying things you won`t find in any other FPS.
And a majority would say the same, they love it but if you put down your pink sunglasses for a moment you would alse agree that in fact this game isn`t what it should be like.

I don't understand why people like CoD, or what the deal with dubstep is, or what's so hilarious about Entourage... it's just a matter of taste.

Oh, and it freezes your PS3 if you open the XMB on loading screens.

i have not had this problem...yet.

Well my PS3 version:
  • Has less lag than a CoD title and is actually playable with 2 people unlike Borderlands.
  • Has nice graphics, certainly a step-up from BC2 which I was playing before.
  • Bland design? You mean overall aesthetics of the packaging, UI, art style etc? Because that was the original hook for me. I'm a graphic design student, and the way Brink presented itself intrigued me. If you mean game design... I disagree but there's too much to cover without a wall-o-text forming.
  • Might be less content than most are used to, but so far it's been made it up to me with the sheer volume of fun. I don't see how a generic modern FPS differs; at release they usually have a shoddy campaign, a few boring maps and probably nowhere near the level of personalisation or customisation in appearance, weapons and skills.
  • The only bugs I've had so far are freezing once mid-match, freezing when I join a certain friend or freezing when I try interact with friends on the XMB, but I can deal with all that.
  • You were obviously expecting too much from the parkour, it's your fault for over-hyping it to yourself. They didn't advertise is specifically as "parkour", that's what it was referred to by people who saw it, everywhere I've seen it's been advertised as implementing the "SMART" movement system.
