Raising a family in Skyrim?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:31 pm

What would you think if skyrim had the possibillity to raise your own family with children and a wife/husband like in Fable.

I think it would be awesome if you could see your children grow up like warriors., but it would be only for roleplay not Storyline.etc so it would be able at the end of the story. What do you guys think about this idea?

Lol, no, I don't think so.
If you want that, play Fable.

Stop posting these threads lol. I think it would be interesting but at the same time it would be ridiculous to have your children grow up without you aging. Fable was able to do it because as you buy your skill points, your character got older. Not the case in TES. So I hope it doesn't, I don't want to be 80 years old taking on Alduin.

I don't even like to have companions with me when I roam the "earth". No, not for me.

Immersion has always been a big part of TES. If they were gonna break immersion, I'd rather see co-op.

Use the search button if your interested in what people think about this. no, no installment of TES features raising a family in any sense, other games do this. look to them for that kind of gameplay.

We're saving the universe from the dragon god of time that is going to devour everything.

No time for love, Doctor Jones.

No, don't say that, imagine the incredible fun you will have waiting 9 in game months for your child to be born! When you, at last, witness the newborn it shall cry non-stop to your utter annoyance. When you try to get away from the Fable experience by taking a few days of to, let's say, raid some random caves, your wife will leave you for never getting to dinner on time ("I swear you honey there were liches there, no way I could make it in time") taking the child with her.

But there is time to dike around in a tavern drinking beer or completely ignoring the main quest to go explore some random dungeon or even to do some random sidequest that's not difficult, but just time-consuming?

I'm not saying that raising children or family should be in the game, but that your logic is flawed. Also, Temple of Doom was the worst of the Indiana Jones trilogy.

Taking a break to have a beer in a tavern for a few hours at most and RAISING A FAMILY are two entirely different things. Raising a family is a huge life-consuming thing that would require a ton of additional effort. In the main quest, you go and explore dungeons, making the main quest optional is part of the freedom. Having a family is such a big thing that it has its own games, and I'd rather time be spent on traditional TES features instead of adding a feature that would start taking the series in a different direction.

Also, Temple of Doom was the worst of the Indiana Jones trilogy.

Yes.

Seems like there are quite a few people that spend quite a bit of time ignoring the main quest. Having a family and supporting them by being a wandering adventurer wouldn't be that far fetched as an RP scenario.

The average playthrough doesn't even last a full game year.

I doubt Alduiin is going to wait five years for you, to have a family.

If this was ever implemented it should only be possible after the main quest.
