Natural Environments/Natural Weather CTD

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 6:55 pm

This is kind of a long story so bear with me:

I downloaded Max Tael's Natural Environment (which I really really like) and tried out Natural Weather too (because what the hell, it looked cool) but once these were enabled it just rained constantly. I made sure I only had one esp enabled and everything but it didn't help--just rain rain rain.

The next thing I tried was Ryu Doppler's fixed esp for the weather. To my dismay, whenever I disabled the original Natural Weather, my save game crashed to desktop during loading. Doesn't matter what I do with Ryu's esp because whenever Max Tael's original esp is disable, the game crashes. So I disabled the entire Natural Environments mod (so sad...) using OBMM and Wrye Bash. I rebuilt the Bash Patch, etc. Nothing seems to work. Still CTDing and I don't know why.

I'm so irritated with this now that I just want it all gone. This is my only goal. If anyone can help, I'd be in their debt.

Yes, Natural Environments was buggy that, like yourself, loved the mod but I had to uninstalled it. I remember that everytime I hit inventory the weather toggle. Not to mention the fact that it was incompatible with some mods that weren't stated in the readme. I switch to All Natural because not only it has an unbuggy Natural Weather from Max Teal, it has many other features that are awesome. And most importantly, it's been kept by a team; if it has a bug, they will see to it. Natural Environment is becoming obsolete because it no longer being kept to fix any bugs arisen from newer mods.

Btw, you can also use Natural Habitat, Natural Water, Natural Vegetation from Max Teal together with All Natural so you won't miss Natural Environments at all.

Well it's good to know I'm not alone in this problem. However, the problem for me is NOT that I want to keep running Natural Environments and can't figure out how--what's holding me up is that I can't get rid of the damn thing. When I tried to deactivate it on Wrye Bash and OBMM, it just made it impossible to load my save game. Oblivion just crashes to desktop when I try to load my save. After not even a second. I want to get rid of this thing but nothing I do works. I just want to wash my hands of it and continue playing. For reference, no I don't have Oblivion installed in Program Files (x86). Can anyone give me some tips?

I rebuilt the Bash patch, I've deleted the offending esps, I've installed a newer version of Wrye Bash, I've run BOSS and STILL I can't play my friggin game. If I knew this little mod was going to destroy my game I would have stayed far away from it.

Here are the mods I'm running:

Shivering Isles
Knights of the Nine
Kvatch Rebuilt
OOO 1.33
Windfall
Adonnays Classical Weaponry
Ambient Town Sounds
ANB No Fast Travel
Kalikut's Rare Trade Goods
Beautiful People
Race Balancing Project
LAME
Integration - The Stranded Light
Cliff's Better Letters
Crowded Roads 7%
Daggerfall Books
Et in Arkay Ego
Unique Landscapes
Extended Imperial City
Harvest Flora
Jagnot's Imperial City Library
Living Economy
Origin of the Mages Guild
P1D Keychain
Portable Campsite
Soya 4 hair
Woodsman Armor

The more I try fix the issues I'm having, the worse things get. The new version of Wrye Bash is showing orange checkboxes now for several mods saying they can't find Oblivion.esm (which is stupid because it's right there as always and OBMM has no problems) so I tried re-ordering my mods with BOSS--nothing happened because BOSS says it has the updated load order. So now, because of Natural Environment, I can't get anything to work properly. It's rather annoying. I'd really like not to have to reinstall Oblivion all together....

Try this:

Re-enable Natural Weather and load the game.

Immediately after the game loads, enter the console and type these two codes:

fw 38eee<--- Force weather to default.
save XXX<--- Save your game in the console.
qqq<--- Quit the game without leaving the console

THEN disable the mod and reload.

Try these instructions:
1. Move to an outdoor location.
2. Open the console and type in "fw 38EEE" (without quotes). This will change the weather to the game's default “Clear”. Go inside an interior.
3. Save the game in a new slot, then exit to desktop.
4. Uninstall the weather mod and make sure it is deactivated.
5. Load the game, then save in a second new slot.

Regarding your load order issues, make sure you don't have Lock Times enabled in Wrye Bash.

If this doesn't do the trick, then while you have the console open, type:

coc testinghall

Exit the console, and THEN save. Hopefully the act of moving to an interior will break the weather dependency. It's entirely possible for things to still go wrong if you try and remove NW while outside.

Okay Arthmoor, I tried what you said and I've made only a little progress. Now, instead of crashing as soon as I load my save game, OB crashes when there's only a hair left to go on the loading bar. So I can't get into the console yet =/

The only thing that's changed is I re-activated the weather mod and manually re-ordered all my mods according to guidelines online. I have Natural Weather loading almost right after the esms. Any ideas?
