BOUNTY HUNTERS!

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:15 pm

i dont know about you guys/ gals , but i would like to see something like what was in Red Dead.
you go to a town/ city pick up the wanted poster with last known location on it, head out into the wild looking for your bounty, but maybe he / she is not there. so you begin looking for clues, you see a still smoldering campfire and footprints that lead of into the east. you know that there is a abandoned fort over to the east so you head there. BAM there he / she is. but there not alone, there are some of there cronies there as well. so you sneak in for a better vantage point and start picking them off with your bow. while they are still confused you sneak up and shackle / hogtie or just kill them ( taking there head, ear, or some other identifying object). bring it or them back to the place where you got the poster and BADDA BING you collect your coins and on to the next.

now lets hear your ideas/ comments.

There's a recent http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1175635-bounty-hunters/ already (including several amusing Star Wars references), in case you didn't see it. :)

It seems like the other thread is about NPCs searching for the player character, while this thread is about the player character searching for NPCs instead.

My thread is about both, although hunters coming after you is the main focus. I like any support for my thread's ideals, even if it comes form a duplicate thread. That being said it would be better to focus on one at a time so the main idea gets more notice.

No, a la bounty hunter. Fallout didnt invent bounty hunters. Poverty, desperation, crime and low human values did :)

We could also be hunted by bounty hunters as well. BGS should have that option!

sorry didnt realize there was another thread already.

@discount-flunky
while i like your ideas about bounty hunters chasing you down and all that, theres just a few things i'd like to point out.
1 bounty hunters tend to work on there own or for who'm ever is posting for said contracts bail.
so i couldn't see a bounty hunters guild as all of us are greedy backstabbers, and dont work well together. ( yes i make my living as a bail enforcer in S.L.C.)

(heres a random fun fact. Do you know that the government actually still hires bounty hunters today to chase after people who've skipped town after paying bail?)

this actually isnt true, while the government does post rewards for wanted criminals, there generally not worth your time. usaully only 100 to 300 depending on the criminal and how bad they want them taken down. where as if you pick up a contract from a bail bonds, they tend to be much more money. any where from 1000 to well over 70,000 is the highest i have seen some one get

we get paid by part of there posted bail ( i dont know the particulars for other states) so lets say the judge posts bail at 500,000, now he skips on bail, i hunt him down, snag him and im now 50,000 dollars richer. that my not sound like the fair share but if you look at it like this, the bondsmen have the money, he's getting his investment back so he can post on the next criminals bond so he can skip and i can get paid. now I've only been doing this for about a year so my percentile is still low.

but that said i do like your ideas on being the hunted

Yes, I would like to see the possibility of being a bounty hunter and having to search for clues to find the criminal(s). It would make it extra fun if you really had to search, too, and not have arrows on a map to point where you need to go, thus making it almost too easy.
