And it's 8 bit. 64 bit is much more advanced.
In layman's terms, each bit is doubling the amount of memory you have. 8 bit isn't a lot, but 9 bit is double that. 10 bit is double THAT.
Keep doubling until you hit 64, and you have a LOT of memory. To make it easier to understand, most modern FPSes use 32 bit. If you double that amazingness, you still only have 33 bit. Double that amazingness again and again and again until you hit 64 and that's how much graphics you're talking about.
But 64 bit isn't very common - it's much too strong for most comptuers, but newer computers that use it are too expensive, so we'll never have eye-explodingly awesome graphics for quite some time :c
