- Become like the vor (Russian for thief). Live in the zone between life and death, not fearing either. By doing so, you will never be defeated.

Tip: To conserve ammo with automatic weapons, use vats, as a burst of automatic fire in vats uses one piece of ammo.

- Aim for the head at close range, at mid-range aim for the body, and at long range avoid the fight all together.

If the first shot doesn't kill, fire again,

If it seems too good to be true, check for a tripwire.

You can get more with a nice word and a gun than with just a nice word.

Deathclaws don't care if you have asthma.

The best place to rest is more than likely a trap.

When sneaking, don't EVER think you are safe, because you never are.

Bullets have a nasty effect on your face.

VERY IMPORTANT: Paranoia is just a safety feature.

If you're a fan of gambling and the strip. Take the Lucky 38 penthouse. You'll have easy access to Sin City.

1. Shoot first ask questions later

2. If being shot at, shoot back

3. If enemy is armed with gun, aim for hand holding gun first.

4. If you have a favorite gun, carry only ammo for that gun and leave all rest in your locker. If you run out hopefully you will be lucky enough to have picked up a few guns from those youve slain.

5. Cover is your friend FYI cars are not good cover

and lastly

6. Dont trust anybody

* Remember to ALWAYS carry Stimpaks, it will be the deciding factor on whether your attacks are successful or not.
* The seemingly easiest way is always the hardest.
* If the enemy is in range, so are you.
* The enemy will fight long and hard for just the sight of your blood. Never doubt their capability.
* If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.
* Accidentally pissed someone off? If you wish for peace, holster your weapon - immediately.
* If you think anything can go wrong, it will.
* You do not have god mode enabled; take note.
* The enemy will only begin destroying you until you make a mistake.
* Never screw with your follower; you'll never know when they will save your life.
* Have plenty of water!
* The quality fight you bring to the enemy will be dependent on how much equipment is weighting you down. (Too much is not good!)
* If at first you don't succeed, call in an Archimedes II strike.
* Having a follower gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.

The Fatman is extremely accurate, the mini-nukes almost always hit the ground.

- The only thing consistent is change. Don't expect your standings and survival to last, out in the wasteland. It is an ever-changing environment, that ebbs and flows like the tide.

- Swallow your pride. In a survival situation, you will most certainly have to do things that are not socially acceptable to get by.

After reading quite a lot of books on survival techniques, video's and interviews with survival experts and my own general knowledge of Desert Survival, I've pieced together quite a few bits and pieces that might just keep you guys alive out there :) By the way, sorry if some have already been said. A lot of these tips apply to hardcoe only.

1. Expect the unexpected to happen and you are likely to be prepared.
2. Be prepared. Take plenty of rations with a minimum of one gallon of water per person for each day.
3. Avoid going alone unless fully prepared. Take a companion, especially if you are not familiar with the area. If things go wrong you can help each other.
4. How long will it take to reach help? If you are not in good enough shape to hike out, it could cost you your life.
5. What time of day is it? If you decide to move, do it at the right time. Avoid any activity during the hot part of the day. It could zap your energy and it will cause your body to require more water.
6. If you choose to walk for help, check how many supplies you can carry.
7. Do you know where you are? Can you easily walk to safety or will it be a gamble? How long will it take and can you easily make it?
8. Don’t panic. Remain calm and think rationally. Don’t loose your cool. Panic is your enemy.
9. Drinking alcohol can cause dehydration and is not a replacement for water.
10. Don’t ration water. Drink if you are thirsty. Your body is a canteen and will store water.
11. Avoid eating if possible. The digestion process uses valuable water and can cause dehydration. You can survive for many, many days without eating, but can survive only a few days without water.
12. A roadway is a sign of civilization. If you find a traveled road, stay on it. You might find other people on a road.
13. Keep an eye on the sky. Buzzards may be a sign of civilization or supplies of some kind.
14. When not moving, use available shade or erect some shade from tarps, blankets, or seat covers to reduce the direct rays of the sun.
15. Rest at least ten minutes each hour if walking. A normally inactive person should rest 30 minutes each hour. Find shade, sit down, prop up feet.
16. Most people think of survival in terms of lack of food. In hot climates, however, food is not as important as other factors. If water is in short supply it is important not to eat anything because it increases your water needs to digest the food.
17. An additional psychological factor is the will to survive. It may sound odd, but some people have just given up due to what they felt was hopelessness, impending pain, hunger, etc. Remember where you're going, why you're going there, and motivate yourself to keep at it.
18. Controlling panic is a matter of focusing the mind and operating in an organized manner.
a) Accept the situation. Do not blame yourself or others. Do not waste time contemplating "What if I had..."
B) Consider your options. Take stock of items at hand, such as water reserves, survival kits, etc.
c) Decide on a plan. Taking into account of your options, decide on a plan that best ensures your health and safety. Thoughts such as "I have to be at work tomorrow," are not considered.
d) Execute the plan and stick with it unless new conditions warrant.
19. I CANNOT emphasise enough that the brain is by far the best survival tool we have. Survival is much more a mental than physical exercise, and keeping control of the brain is necessary.
20. To survive in arid or desert areas, you must understand and prepare for the environment you will face. You must determine your equipment needs, the tactics you will use, and how the environment will affect you and your tactics. Your survival will depend upon your knowledge of the terrain, basic climatic elements, your ability to cope with these elements and your will to survive.
21. Eating is not so important. The normal individual can actually last for an extended period without it. Its hard at first, but becomes easier over time. The average person can survive up to 15 to 20 days without food under most conditions.
22. Any sign of wildlife, especially birds sitting in a tree, may mean nearby water, as most wild animals require a water source.

Pay attention to these ^^ and you just might make it out alive ;)

When someone tells you to 'Get out of here, stalker,' ignore him. Especially if he says it repeatedly. For all wastelands, not just Russian ones.

Keep clicking the Vats button, that has saved me so many times from being surprised by an enemy raider or mutent.
When you enter a cave or an enemy compound go into sneak mode unless your wearing Power Armor which if thats the case go into Tony Montana mode.
If you see a Deathclaw don't run sneak away from it.
Explore, you never know what you will find out in the wasteland.
Save before entering the casinos
If your going to side with Cobb steal everything from goodsprings 1st.
Remember House always wins so you gotta be careful when you deal with him.

house always wins, never thought of his name and the phrase have a connection

Sorry if there are repeats in my own list:

- Carry Three Weapons: A Long Range Weapon (Preferably Rifle) for wandering outside in the wastes. A Medium Range Weapon (Shotgun and the equivalent) for exploring ruins and enclosed areas. A Short Range Weapon (Knife) to deal with critters who would otherwise be wastes of ammunition (Radroaches and other low tier vermin).

- Travel Light, Travel Fast

- Static Defenses offer plenty of protection, but your enemy knows exactly where you are.

- If you hear the sound of a trip wire breaking, small objects clanking on the ground,A Baby Crying, or a "Beep. Beep. Beep." - Move Your Ass.

- If you're out in the wastes, never holster your weapon. You won't travel as fast, but you'll always have your gun handy.

- Stop and Think. Is it better to press on through the dark and rely on your Pipboy to light your way - revealing your position to everything in range - or would it be better to stop, make camp, and wait for first light?

- A Frag Grenade is never a waste of space, even if you aren't skilled with explosives.

- "Fighting the Good Fight" is good for the soul, but it doesn't put food on the table or ammo in the gun. You aren't a charity.

- Be a sensible looter. Plenty of Wastelanders will pay good caps for junk that barely weighs anything (Cigarettes, Cherry Bombs, Pre-War Money, etc). Weapons and Armor are heavy, difficult to transport, and generally have low profit rates for their weight. Also keep Ammo in mind. Ammo is a good way to make a profit, seeing the types of ammo you have no use for (It also weighs less then the guns).
