Please delay game if necessary

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:58 am

Bethesda if you need a whole extra year to get the game right by all means take that year, please don't ruin our elder scrolls experience by releasing something that isn't ready!

Yes Bethesda it's ok to delay the game an entire year because Zerbz says it's ok! Disregard the time allocation and the budget you were given and blow another years worth of money that you weren't allocated because a few members on the forums says it's ok!

Seriously people come on. Zenimax/Bethesda is going to give BGS an entire extra year plus give them an extra years worth of money because you are ok with it.

Bethesda, please don't insult our intelligence by delaying this game as if your alleged QA can do any better then it has in the past. We've all heard the post-Oblivion PR hype about how you weren't impressed with your own QA department and going to drastically improve it, then seen what got past them with New Vegas.

Just get the game to us on time, so the modders can start fixing it as usual.

Reading this reminded me of reading about a bug that was causing the guards in Burma to kill the prisoner because they did not have food and he had extra, thus breaking the quest line for him (the one with the blue necklace that looks like the amulet of kings). Bugs like that are worthy of delaying a game. Quest breaking bugs.

Only if it is an important main quest bug, or perhaps important guild quest bug.

A small side-quest can be skipped until fixed, delaying a game for a tiny side quest is not really worth it.

Do you understand that if they thought they needed more time they wouldn't have announced an exact release date this past December?

Do you understand that things can come up unexpectedly, creating a need for more time (i.e. a delay)?

Only real BIG bugs would warrant a delay, such as many CTD's or main quest is not being able to be completed cause of a major game breaking bug/quest bug.

I for one do NOT want a delay for smaller bugs, only if the game is in an unplayable state and mired with MAJOR bugs.

This is what the people who are fine with a delay are talking about. Some people are just completely missing the point.

Plus the game's been in development for close to 5 years now (a good amount over that when it's finally released), one of the longest gaps between two games in the entire series. If that's not enough to give the game as much polish as possible, I don't know what is. Seems to me some of the people in this thread are being needlessly pessimistic here.

It really has nothing to do with being pessimistic or optimistic...

Should've made that Adoring Fan!

Maxis delayed Spore for a month. i'm betting it was because of this whole lack of reconnect function in the beta :/

I just played crysis 2... i wanted to cry my eyes out, eat my ears and shove a tire iron down my throat. the UI and the Controls, etc, etc, etc, were fine. the game engine was damn fine.. but come on is this really what i waited for since 2007? they completely butchered the storyline with a gigantic meat cleaver. they changed it from open world into linear first person shooter. they removed all the lovely destructible environments. they removed the fun and replaced it with seriousness, crysis 2 was the biggest letdown of this year, i'm seeing games developed in 1 year that were better than this game. the first part of it was abysmal, the second part of the game was ok.but unless they really fix the game in crysis 3 then this game has been completely ruined and the potential of our beloved Cry Engine will perish unless they sell it.

If you think todd howard overhyped and lied about oblivion before its release.. (which i don't) you should see what Crytek did with crysis 2... jesus christ. the multiplayer is ok tho.

Make like blizzard and perfect the game before release. I guess in a game like this it is hard to squash all the bugs but don't release it with huge ones that will need a day 1 patch. And for pete's sake don't leave content for later patches like the aforementioned crysis 2.

It is in no way yours, mine, or anyones, but the developers.

The only major bug on release I remember in Bethesda was for Shivering Isles. I can't remember what it was called, though.
The rest are all minor.
Except don't make the bad spawn dumping ground in a city again.

Yes, because the developers are the only people who are going to play the game.

It is their game and their game only. BUT, the main reason to make the game is to sell it to us and make money to do it again.

They've been working on the game for 5 years. No need to fret.

That's not the point. It's their project that they're working hard on. They have the discretion to allow us to modify it, which is awesome and in a way, open minded. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
