Patch 1.2.0.285

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:45 pm

This patch reduces the fps of my ATI 5670 system. The reduction is immediately noticeable on first launch of saved game after patching up. Damn fps lag making me giddy heh.

Does it smooth out after 30-60 seconds after loading? That's what's happening to me.

Not at all. The only time it is smooth is when I travel to the end of the map and look in the direction of nothing.

I had exactly the same problem (HD 5970) - the patch halved my frame rate. However, applying the ATI 10-10c hotfix fixed the problem and I have to say I'm getting much better frame rates in populated areas now thanks to the patch.

My FPS dropped as well on my dual 5870s, but, it's actually much smoother at lower FPS post patch. If I turned off Fraps, I'd never know I was running in the 30s at times were before I would have.

I don't mind a lower FPS count as long as it doesn't degrade performance. Though, I admit I'd prefer seeing 60 all the time with 2 5870s. (Silly, I know.) As long as it feels smooth I'm fine with it.

Hmm. I clicked on Ultra high settings for the first time after updating and it seems to be slightly smoother now.

I've noticed an fps drop in some areas with my 5850 that I didn't notice before, The Strip for instance is about 10 - 15 fps lower, a few indoor areas also see strange drops when looking at a seemingly solid wall. I'm also noticing more hitching when traveling than I used to, but I need to look through the ini to make sure nothing is out of whack.

Overall it's smooth though, I'm pretty satisfied with performance this patch on my ATI card.

@Wolfpup: That isn't silly, if I spent $800 on two 5870s i'd want to see 60 all the time too :D

I've had an fps drop with each patch. I was annoyed, but just now I remembered that originally I'd changed both the affinity and priority of falloutnv.exe when I first started the game. I did not remember to do that with the last two patches. "Duh," I said to myself. Putting things back the way they'd been put the fps almost back to where it was when I first started my first character.

I have the HD4870 and the patch added two things: stuttering in character movement (didn't have it before) and big slow-motion while reloading or immediately after surviving a gun fight.

I have not had a crash in quite some time (knock on wood).

I need to replace my hard drive tonight and reinstall everything. So it could get interesting....

HD5650m here, running the latest drivers (10.10d hotfix). Same problem, fps is halved after the update. It definitely broke something for many ATI users.

10.10 was horrible for me (I'm on XP and can't use the fix). 10.9 is much better. (HD4870)

The latest Catalyst is http://www.guru3d.com/news/amd-catalyst-1010d-hotfix/

I have not experienced any issues on my 5970 Crossfire setup.

The latest http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/crossfirex-app-profiles.aspx is also 10.10

Wow maybe they should just put all these hotfixes together into an actual NEW DRIVER lol!

Also, the patch to FONV also killed the performance on my setup. Running two 5850's with tweaks on a Eyefinity setup and I was getting good fps and pretty smooth performance, now its down to half the fps and jerky/hitching/stuttering.

I'm going to try the 10.10e hotfix and hope it does some good.

Yeah the new patch broke something, it seems that it's mostly ATI users with 5xxx cards getting affected by extremely low fps.

For Win 7 x32/x64 - (Should work on Vista, too)

The new Crossfire Profile is for any OS, as the Crossfire Profiles are not driver-dependant (beyond needing any Catalyst of 10.x forward)
