Higher level cap/More abilities/Less ability points.

I think Brink should of been like this already.

Higher Levels - so levels actually mean something.

More abilities - there isn't enough for the levels/ranks.

Less ability points - you would have to make us get 1 point for every two levels. This would make it so that you can NOT get every ability for your preferred class and universal abilities.

By doing this every character/class will be truly unique.

Yes it's a nice idea... :) I'd have to say good-bye to my op/med though :'(
Then I'd have to make another character to balance them out :(

But yes, that's a great idea, it would hurt me, but for the better :P

Maybe not less ability points, but certainly more abilites without adding more points.

Also, make it so you can't level up without spending a point, and maximum of 1 point in Rank 5, so you have to make a choice.

One point for ever two levels? What game PERIOD do you even see that in? Not to sound condescending or anything, but that's clearly why you're not a game designer. That's a pretty dumb idea. I'm not opposed to the higher level cap or more abilities, but 1 point for two levels is dumb, plain and simple. If you can find any example of a game where they have this kind of leveling system, I'll humbly and happily eat my words.

Fallout New Vegas. One perk every two levels.

Fallout New Vegas. One perk every two levels.

The older Fallouts (before the shift to Bethesda and the first person view) were that way as well, although if you took a particular perk it ended up being one every three levels.

I eat my words then. But for the way Brink is structured, it makes no sense. But that's just my personal opinion.

The point of Brink isn't the grind and level-up process.

It's the gameplay.

I find it more fun when you have a max-leveled character and can work with and against people who are equally capable. It's a good way of having the early stages of the game act as a tutorial for when you're Rank 5.

I'm glad the DLC is giving us more abilities, but I'm mildly annoyed it's increasing the level cap.

Everything that effects gameplay should always be available. They could have an infinite leveling system for all I care as long as you always have access to abilities/weapons/attachments or anything else that effects gameplay. Unlockables should be cosmetic only.

As far as ability points are concerned im kind of torn to whether or not there should be less or more.
