How do you kill Death Claws

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:21 pm

High ground + long range + .50 cal sniper rifle = Deathclaws extinction. :gun:

I only had trouble with deathclaws on two occasions on my first play though....one when I (with Boone and ed-e) was jumped by three deathclaws at close range, I survived by running away (leaving Boone and ed-e to hold up the deathclaws) sniping a couple while boone and ed-e fell, I then finished the last one firing the .50 cal from the hip while quickly backing away. The other was when I was fighting my way up black mountain only to have a deathclaw appear right in front of me and immediately kill me. Where the deathclaw got the stealthboy from and who trained him is still a mystery to me.....maybe it ate a nightkin or a nightstalker.

I'd Strongly suggest brush gun with hollow points 45-70 it goes through their armor and completely demolishes them, great non vats choice for dealing em close up. As for long range sniping
10 luck + 3% luck trait + finnesse (5%) + berret (5%) = 23%that x5 from sniper rifle modifier = i crit every [censored]in time. Still I find gauss rifle much more entertaining, load the unique gauss with max charge cells and u have some real 1 shot ko prformance.

HP do not "pass through their armor" .

The AmR + incendiary rounds is quite fun aswell.
It usually doesn't 1 shot them, but seing them running around ablaze is entertaining.

I killed them with a sniper rifle sneak crits also hear guass rifle is most effective way to kill them.to add stading in the higest position possible helps as they cannot climb some stuff i.e rocks.

Sneaking is almost always your best option for killing them quickly. A headshot with AP rounds from ANY weapon while sneaking, generally does enough damage to kill them in one shot. Of course, if the gun isn't silenced you won't be able to do so again without popping a stealth boy (instantly hidden from "caution" mode).

Just like FO3, Sneaking is incredibly OP and can make the game extremely boring. At least at lower levels of stealth, it's enjoyable because you can actually get caught :o

So far I'm using Alien Blaster (which is the best thing my mid-teens character has found). Crits huge just like in FO3 where it was also my Death Claw weapon of choice much of the time. At least now I don't feel like my energy weapons points have totally gone to waste.

anti-material rifle

if your too low a level, try getting somewhere where the deathclaw cant, like those lifts in the quarry, and use a sniper rifle.

and, if all else fails, lay down and pretend to be dead.
