Any Epic Mods Released?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:15 pm

Greetings,

So, back in the long-long ago, I really enjoyed playing with some of the epic mods offered in Morrowind. I enjoyed mods such as Glory Road, The Underground (ah, Qarl...), Wizard's Island, Horror Mod, and whatever else would come across. I'm talking about epic, 20+ hour mods that add new space to the gameworld and that you play with your existing character (unlike Nehrim, although I'm sure it's excellent). These adventures would be for very high leveled characters, and present challenges that nothing in the vanilla game could compare to.

Do there exist extensive epic mods like this for Oblivion? I've done some looking, but haven't noticed any. Again, criteria would include a brand new region, content difficult at top-level, 20+ hours of questing, and preferably some cutting-edge ways to use the CS.

Thanks!

Two occur to me. They are both very large adventures (don't know about 20+hours). They are Heart of the Dead and Magic city of Adash.

Check out http://knol.google.com/k/toql-big-quest-mods. And don't forget http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23153, either, which can be made even longer by adding either or both of two companion mods that bring their own additional quest lines to it, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15200, and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17743.

If you want any further help I suggest you tell us about yourself; what you like and what you're looking for... Here's some questions to get you started:

Have you played Oblivion already?
What sort of things interest you?
What type of Character do you usually play? (good/evil, theif/mage, roleplayer/random-no-story-hack-and-slasher?)
Are there specific types of mods you think would interest you? (Quests, graphic mods, gameplay mods, overhauls, etc.)
When did you leave?

Thanks for the excellent replies, everyone!

1. Yes, I played through Oblivion when it came out-- I played with an Argonian, and made it my goal to complete every quest/guild in the game. I think I was level 34 when it was all said and done. Nothing like bandits in full daedric armor, eh? They should be grateful. :-)

After beating Oblivion, I went back to Morrowind.

2. Well, I'll list my favorite Morrowind mods, and see if you guys can give me any sort of guidance.
~Suran Underworld
~Balmora Expanded (particularly Balmora Underground)
~Carnithus' Armamentarium
~The Underground (1 and 2)
~Wizard's Island
~Horror Mod
~Glory Road
~Vampiric Embrace/Hunger
~Illuminated Order

I know that I went through both Suran Underworld and The Underground twice, with two separate toons.

3. I tend to really enjoy darker characters, but generally games equate darkness with violence-- and once you are overpowerful (as I felt I became in Oblivion), it's tough to find it gratifying. I enjoy more of the seedy/gritty/darker side of things in Elder Scroll games. I'm a huge roleplayer-- the Vampiric mods made gameplay tough (having to feed, stay out of sunlight, et cetera), but if I didn't play so many vampiric characters, I would use Necessities of Morrowind.

4. I'm interested in whatever, but anything that greatly contributes to roleplaying or new guilds/quests/roleplay without breaking things (Suran Underworld did a great job of this) is ideal.

5. I left Oblivion mid-2007, Morrowind (second time) around late 2008.

Thanks!

Never really played Morrowind so I don't know much about those mods. :(

Most of the quest mods I mentioned should fit what you want especially Integration since it's 80+ quests, 5 new guilds, very mature... The main quest line has "good intentions" but it doesn't really force you to be a goody-two-shoes. Windfall is another long and mature quest mod.

Mostly just check the TOQL. (Oblivion quest list)

How can you have a list of Morrowind quests without Havish?!?

to the Oblivion quests I would add (and recommend):
http://www.lostspires.com/ - the author describes it as 15+ hours long
http://mods.jo-ge.net/ob/ - well under your 20 hour mark IIRC unless you play slowly and do the side quests

Thanks, Phoenix and Skyranger! I'll be sure to check those out.

You know, I remember giving Havish a try, but at the time the whole daily-schedule thing was too cutting edge for me. After Oblivion, if I went back and gave it a shot, I would probably love it. ;-)
