I'd prefer it not be heavy like it has been in the past two games, because the weight (no matter how strong the armor itself is) would cause the wearer to quickly tire and be killed. Beforehand Ebony was not quite as strong as Orcish or Daedric, but it was more than half the weight less than those two and you could take the advantage of that to keep more gear in your inventory. I suppose it is out of place, but I firmly reject the notion that better armors are heavier.

Thats why endurance is so important with it. It can be adapted to.
And it is pretty hard to repair, that is said in an Oblivion book. But light armor isn't necessarily better either.
The whole "volcanic glass" thing is confusing, because Ebony seems to be able to be molded and forged like metal, is clearly not brittle like glass, and often seems metallic, especially in Daedric form.
