OOO and MMM : Taking the Step Up

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:29 pm

After a several months break from Oblivion, I'm going to get back into it and try to play a bit more moderately this time so I don't burnout like I did last summer. Must've played ~500 hours between late May and August and, despite loving the game to pieces, just finally had to stop playing.

I gave Cobl a try but had bald people because something didn't get installed right, so I deactivated that in OMOD, and now people have hair again. May come back to that later.

It seems quite clear that the two most univerally recommended major overhaul mods for Oblivion are OOO and MMM, so I'm in the process of getting those installed.

I'm curious if there are featurs in either of those that are redundant or conflictual with any of the existing mods in my load order or other recommendations

My mod load list

Hmmm, got MMM and OOO installed and OOO is running fine by itself, but for some reason MMM seems to think it wants an .esm for OOO instead of the .esp that is in the Data folder.

I seem to recall someone saying that it is a very bad idea to play a character with Majors as Minors using OOO?

Welcome to the overhaul experience! I'd suggest reading the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1116296-relz-martsmonstermod37b3-public-release-3-relz/ for lots of information. According to the load order guide by Corepc in that thread, MMM has two esm's necessary when playing OOO, along with the OOO esm.

=== LOAD ORDER ===

Load Order Guide by Corepc

MMM and OOO:
Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm
Mart's Monster Mod.esm
Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esm
Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp
Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esp
Mart's Monster Mod's optional plugins

You're right that you shouldn't take majors as minors for OOO.

Good luck to you, and have fun!

Thanks Vaisellias. Strange thing: I don't have any .esm for OOO and it is running fine.

ADDIT: and thanks for that link to the MMM thread!

If you don't have an .esm for OOO, it means you're running a very old (and much more buggy) version of OOO. So upgrade to OOO 1.34b ASAP.

What The NiceOne said. Links and info: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119240-relz-oscuros-oblivion-overhaul-133/

My guess is that you used Cobl Races w/o having the resources installed: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21104

I think there is no need to install DropLitTorchOBSE.esp because the drop lit torches feature is already integrated into OOO 1.34.

So I got it to run with MMM activated, but I'm missing meshes and the guards are in their underwear ;)

Think I must've skipped a step or two in installing MMM. Back to the drawing boards. Thanks to the link to the MMM thread above, not a real problem.

I think you must rename the Martigen BSA file in a certain fashion (not entirely sure though). Check the readme of the MMM install. :)
