could be an iron oxide deposit, i spent some time in arizona, utah and nevada last summer and in some places the dirt was blood red due to iron coming in contact with the air.

rather than start a new topic. anyone know how far north we'll be able to go? like Area 51.

Area 51 is a testing site On the day when the crazy guy said he saw lights they were running a test and its just a military base the U2 spy plane was lunched form there. and the red marks are the colors of the ground or rocks.

Just got a pictur anolasis from my brother:

At a glance i think its likely that there are veins of a mineral with alot of iron in that has been oxidised to red. possibly something like hematite. i have looked at pictures from greenland i have to look at with similar staining that tells me what kind of minerals are within.
