The Review Embargo...

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:03 am

I've heard its until tommorow, then ive heard its till tuesday...

When is it FOR REALZ.

Proof pl0x.

And also, why embargo reviews? If they're good you have nothing to lose...If they're bad... :cryvaultboy:

And also...this dosn't include that obviously fake review that seems to be buzzing right now.

Seems counterproductive to me unless the reviews are bad. So whats stopping websites from releasing reviews anyhow? (Minus the internet troll now)

Its usually not a good thing when there's an embargo on a review until the release day...

How is it counter productive? If you were going to pre-order you would of done it by now.If you were wait9ng for reviews you can't buy it until the 19th when the reviews come out anyway.

Ok, I just read on some website that obsidian/gamesas gives them a copy of the game in advance, as long as they dont release the review till release day. If they do, they dont get games in advance EVAR AGAIN.

Its so they actually take the time to play the game and not rush the review just to get site hits. How is that bad?

This is actually fairly common in the industry. Anyone who says otherwise is either trolling or simply doesn't know what they're talking about. The game only went gold a little while ago, and then went into production right after that. Review copies are sent out and then, in the case of New Vegas, played for a week or two in order to just scratch the surface.

Embargos are normally a stopgap to prevent rushed reviews, and are quite common.

Whenever the embargo is lifted, It doesn't affect me anyway. I'll be buying New Vegas no matter what.

Fallout 3 also had an embargo in place. Zenimax/Beth just play it safe.
