cyrodiil trading network

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:23 pm

cyrodiil is supposed to have a big trading network right? like goods coming in from the east empire company and prolly from other provinces as well

my question is, how do they transport these goods?

sure, theres horses, but i dont see carts or anything

and im not buying it if someone says they just have people carrying it on their backs

any explanations?

oh and dont be a funny man and say they just fast travel back and forth with the goods in their magical underwear that stores infinite loads of crap and items

Part of it was supposed to come via ships i believe.

Although in Oblivion the river is a bit blocked by Leyawiin.

Oblivion conflicts with lore in almost everything. But I'd say ships and carriages.

Not seing things in-game does not necessarily mean they're not there. Though the lack of roads leading out an the blocket water-ways is a bit curious. Magical bridge openers, probably.

The Niben really isn't supposed to crash into Leyawiin, but even then it isn't really strategic for fast shipping to practically anywhere. I'd say the unusually large and well kept roads in the countryside would have many large caravans.

I'd say:
  • transport over Cyrodiil's many rivers (They're there, look harder.)
  • the Niben, as more of a narrow sea-arm than a broad river
  • overseas trade in Anvil
  • large trade caravans
  • etc.

I wonder if the Mage Guild transports cargo, or only couriers. Teleportation is probably strictly controlled within Cyrodiil.

In the intro of Morrowind it is said that the main character was transported by carriage and by boat, and I guess that they will transport goods in about the same way as prisoners.

And I guess that there wasn't enough space on the dvd to add caravans and sea trade.

During the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp4ZSJmmjgA (at approx. 45 sec.), you can see a pretty well sized ship (assuming that it is about the size of ships in the game), in an even bigger Niben River. Also, if I remember correctly, the games are quite considerably scaled.
Another thing, there is a waterfront around the Imperial City, and during a mission http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:An_Unexpected_Voyage and bring it out to sea.

If I remember correctly, there were carts in Daggerfall (I've only played the demo, and a long time ago).

In Morrowind there were pack guars, that merchants and other traders could have used.

Aren't there air trading methods too? I remember something in Sentinel dealing with dirigibles or winged creatures used for shipping.

The airship at the end of Redguard, probably. If I'm right, it was pretty much one-of-a-kind. Methods to make new airships, as we saw in Bloodmoon, pretty much end... catastrophically.

There was a guy in Ald'Ruhn who said he was waiting for an airship as well.

The Sload are also said to use airships in http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/corpse_preparation.shtml.

Those rumours sound a lot like urban stories to me. Think about it, how would the sload get on ship? And more important, how would they keep ships containing those giant, fatty slugs in the air?

But then again, you never know with the Sload.

True. But I'm not sure how they would travel far. If they dont know how to cast a double Mark spell.

I believe so called guild guides are capable of this service, they can even cast a "recall" on touch spell to one of their 4 custom marked places. Don't know if they take equipment to tough.

True. Then I guess the Sload and the Mages Guild travel persons is really good Mark/Recall casters.
