For your first playthrough

Regarding the rushing.

In FO3, there was just the main storyline, there were no factions or anything of any real significance. The Wasteland revolved around the story.

My first play through, when I got to the point that the Enclave showed up, I was pretty underlevel, and the game started wrecking me consistently. Then (rather suddenly) I got to the end and was all "Ummmm, whiskey tango foxtrot Beth".

I imagine a lot of people were worried about something similar here. I know a lot of the Oblivion players initially got the MQ (in FO3) out of the way so they could go on to explore the world and do sidequests and so on at their leisure. The reality was a rude awakening for many of us. Thus the backlash and the Broken Steel continue playing after MQ DLC.

Although I voted undecided, and mentioned as much in my last post in this thread, I'll probably still run a character straight through the MQ to see how it effects the world before I settle in to something more relaxed, aimless wandering and so on (my preferred way to play). Paranoia I guess.

Nope. I may not deviate much from the MQ first time 'round but I won't be banzai charging it either.

I have waited way way to long to finish the game in only a few hours. I am going hardcoe and exploring every nook and getting my hands on every weapon. Then i will join the NCR.

After that i will explore with the help of NCR, hang around there base, do missions for them, then i will make a new character. This character is a bit on the idiotic side.

He will be Mr. House's war dumby. I will act as dumb as possible until mr.house begins to think,"What harm can a [censored] do?".

When he lets me in, i will go ninja monkey on him :ninja:

Then he will be like,"No please.... don't, i will give you anything. I will get you girls... Your own casino!"

Then i will be like,"Funny man, i don't want anything, but your head!"

Then i will take out my Grenade Machine Gun :gun:

"Oh, Shiny!", and that's exactly where a rushed play through will die.

Honestly? I probably will only open my strategy guide to ogle the weapons and armour files, and completely ignore the walkthrough sections. I will start a new game, and after doing the Goodsprings start quest, I will pick a direction and go that way until I get distracted by something in another direction, I get killed, or I get bored. The first two are more likely.

Only thing I would do with a stregy guide is this, and see all traits and perks and all implants to plan my character.

No, that would defeat the purpose of an open ended game such as New Vegas.
I plan to spend some time getting to know the factions and doing side quests then exploring for a while.

I'm all about exploration so no. My first FO3 playthrough tapped out at about 100+ hours. I imagine the same will done on NV if not more.

I can answer that for you. You will at least play, if you explore every location and do every quest (Including Free Quest) and you play on hardcoe mode.... Your game hours should average about 300-400+ hours first play threw.

That is counting in how much time the average person will spend gambling, About an hour or so everytime you hit the strip.

Also counting in how much time it takes to read terminals and messages, and hanging with your girl friends.

hardcoe mode will add in at least 100 or more hours of gameplay due to the fact that you HAVE to get food, water, and shelter... the basic needs of survival. Don't forget your ammo.

Then depending what you do for your next gameplay... you should get around 200 hours of play, factoring in replay of Main quest and side quest. Also the 3 diffrent factions wich is sure to lead the second half of the MQ 3 ways, Plus you can go neutral. So merc, or Anarchiest. That makes it 5 ways it can go. And those are just the main factions. Don't forget about the side factions like the Omerta, and the Powder Gangers.

I assume there are more then one way to go about most side quest... like the "Beyond the Beef", in the inside look they frame the father for murdering his own son. I believe since your dad set you up to SAVE his son, you can SAVE his son.

That is why i believe the game will have great replay value even after doing every little thing you can do in play threw one

Once I finish the starting area I will not be touching the main quest again for a very long time. I will head towards whatever looks interesting, and keep doing that till I die. Then I change directions. I love finaly getting to a town and receiving quests Ive already completed.

I'm gonna rush my first play through because my job is to review it and make videos for it. But after I'm done with all of that I'm deleting that play through and starting over while taking my time. :fallout:

If I can get a high enough barter/repair/science skill so that I can make a living fixing stuff, making custom weapons, ammo, whatever and selling it for food, drink babes, and the occasional game of poker or craps at the tables, then what do you mean... end?

Nope, I would much rather enjoy my playthrough taking my time and not rush to the end so I can be among the first to finish the game. Makes for a much satisfying experience not to mention help keep you playing the game for a longer period of time with out growing bored of it.

Not a chance in hell.

I made the mistake of rushing through FO3 like I was on a time limit doing nothing but quests not taking my time ect and it was stupid of me.
As soon as I leave Goodsprings I'm going to get lost and the only time I'll continue the Main story is if I accidently go there.

I rushed it in Fallout 3. I read the Wiki's to see how to complete and what not, so once in my life, I can say I completed a game. Sadly I felt I ruined the experiance formyself a bit, so I will not do this in New Vegas. In fact, I made a post about restartitis, so I will make one character and see him or her to the end.
