Work as a trainer?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:36 pm

It struck me in Oblivion that having honed a select group of skills, and become a master of a few, the last thing of meaning left in the world would be to pass these skills on. I reckon it would be a nice addition, adding to the immersion, and seem quite rewarding given the "work" that goes into building our characters. oh and a nice little revenue stream. How about this scenario? You're a member of the fighters guild and they notice your proficiency with two handed weapons, so they offer you a contract as their trainer. You could spend time sparing with the "students", who gain experience, which in tern benefits the guild through their increased aptitude. You could spend a lot of time with the guild, first being trained, and as time progresses you become a trainer... Just a couple thoughts.

Would work, but after much debate this topic has had since Oblivion, I'm pretty sure it would be boring and/or not engaging enough for the devs to add it to the gameplay. Then again, we can chop wood in Skyrim....so you might be in luck!

I SWEAR, I heard somewhere that random npc's come up to you in the street and ask for training. If so, you might be in luck.

Yes, if you can chop wood, than you wouldn't be bored by this.

Awsome, so the NPC who you've been teaching your best weapon and magic skills to comes back later in the game to kick your butt lol, I like it.

yeah in a few previews they stated that npcs ask you for training, but how it works who knows. Whether you actually get to train physically or its just done with a menu. Hopefully, you do get to spar with them if its a combat skill. Other skills like magic, alchemy and athletics would be fun to do physically as well rather than a menu system, including when you learn from someone else yourself.
