Help needed: When Boone says this...

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:56 pm

"Next time let me aim that for you."

What does he mean? Am I missing something?

I'm learning about guns and ammo and spotting and all that. I'm on PS3 and I use the L1 on the controller to zoom in when I'm aiming and the creature is red in the sights. Is there something else I should be doing? How can he aim the weapon for me? Thanks for any help.

Yeah I get the same but sometimes I do miss, but I also get abuse from Boone if I'm shooting to close to him even if I don't hit him hes still a bit peeved at me, I just ignore him :whistling:

I've lined up sneak-critical, long distance shots with my sniper rifle, pulled off a clean headshot and gotten that reply several times... he's really testing my patience :gun:

Try taking his beret from him, his dialogue and the way he says it is hilarious. And yeah Boone is just a jerk.

It's just an expression when you miss, he can't actually aim your weapon for you.

Boone's 1st Recon and therefore forever and always more badass than us. We aim for the head and I think Boone goes for something like the eye. I found that telling him to follow at a distance helps from hearing his comments (which can get annoying). The only issue with him being further behind is he has a slight tendency to take off inside buildings go on a killing spree.

lol, you guys. I don't think he's a jerk. I think his backstory was great; he's hot and I love his tortured sixy voice. I was just wondering if I'm doing something wrong with my gameplay. When I aim and press L1 it's actually me aiming and he says that so I had to wonder. Thanks! :D

Well, you see, it's a magic beret. PER +1 and Critical Chance +5. I don't blame him. I wear the one he gave me. :D

Only after I terminate him, due to his verbal abusiveness :gun: :swear: , will I give him his beret back on his corpse. :intergalactic:

Snipers, like pilots, in the military are extremely cocky. They have reason to be cocky though. Boone's just a typical sniper.

For fun, I give him a weapon he can't handle. Like the Anti-Materiel Rifle. That way when he comments on me missing my target, I can just picture him trying to fire that rifle and missing nine times out of ten.

Boone says that if you fire a shot at no enemy. If you shoot an enemy that he hasn't detected, he doesn't know it's there, he will of course think you've missed/shot nothing

I love Boone's deadpan delivery of his lines. What he said to the OP is just a sarcastic remark. You know, I think I have a small crush on Boone......a video game character. Christ I'm pathetic! <_<

That's just indication of good game/character design. The more believable they are, the more real they seem. You can fall sorry for people and angry at people in games and movies.

Games are about escapism.

Having a crush on a game character isn't hurting anyone, what's wrong with it? X)

I think it has something to do with you just firing random shots or missing. I know I have been sitting and fired at someone really far away and maybe the AI looks at that like I was firing random shots or something.

Pretty much this. You may have hit something, but if the companion hasn't detected the enemy, it seems like you are shooting nothing to them

I think it's the voice. When you spend this many hours with a voice, well, you know. :D I felt the same way about Sean Bean in Oblivion. RPG is great...just let the old imagination go and become immersed. All kinds of fun. They've been getting great voice actors and it makes a big difference. Thanks to them for that.

This is what I was going to say, except 'jerk' is putting it a little more nicely than I would have. :shifty:

I'm getting mad at Boone when he says something like that. And more - I just die a little inside, seeing how he's handling my .308 sniper rifle. He tries to fire it full auto, missing two times out of three, like he's got a lot of spare ammo. Of course he is, it's not like he buys it anywhere with his caps, it's my caps. So he doesn't count. And after that he's trying to teach me how to hadle my That Machine. Jerk he is.

Yeah, the voice acting for him is great. I must have taken away Boone's hat ten times or so because his follow up line is so funny. I didn't even know Boone could be a companion when I first encountered him in the T-Rex and yet he still fascinated me with the story about his wife's kidnapping, Manny Vargas, etc.. Can't wait to see what his special side-quest involves.

Also want to add that Liam Nelson is another great voice actor that made a game character attractive, even if that character was your father in the story. :blush2:

I agree about Liam Neeson. He made that character and it was good to hear his voice. I found Boone's quest compelling and it sounds like you will too. It wasn't short but I wasn't ready for it to be over when it was. Maybe they'll spin off his character? haha. Good luck.

I guess I'm not the only one that finds Boone to be the perfect companion(In a non 'I want to jump his bones' way.) Since most of my character builds tend to be recon, sniper or stealthy, I find myself always using Boone and ED-E. I haven't felt compelled to let many of the other possible companions tag along with me, because none of them seem all that interesting. And I think Boone's quest was definately the best companion quest I've done so far.
