Creating Spell Icons

Hi all, I was wondering how you make spell icons. I've been browsing around the CS Wiki, and it looks like the closest thing they have to this is creating inventory icons, which doesn't really help. Anyone know a good tutorial or can explain how to create spell icons?

I tried finding the same thing, but never found anything. I'm sure you can make them just like any other icon, but I'm not so sure if you can apply them specifically to one spell. You can apply them to a type of spell, but not a new icon for each new spell you make. At least, I don't think you can.

Well, the thing is, I'm not exactly sure how to go about making the icons. I read some tutorials where it looked like inventory icons were made by putting the object mesh in Nifskope, printing the screen, and transferring it to Photoshop or GIMP or something. However, loading a spell in Nifskope isn't pretty-- it just comes out as a square or circle or colorless blob or something.

Ah I think I see where your going wrong, all they are telling you to do is load the actual weapon/armor into Nifskope so you can scale it down to be the future icon. I think a spell icon you have to start from scratch.

Try loading one of the spell icons into gimp and skip Nifskope

Yeah, I think I'll try that. Either that, or I'll try taking a shot of the spell in game and seeing if that comes out well.
