mods wont show

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:56 pm

hi,
im trying to use some mods on oblivion that i have made but none of them seem to show up on the game. i have had this problem for a while and i am using windows 7 and used to be using vista when i first had the problem.
i dont think that it was anything to do with how i created the mods because they seem to work on my other computer using windows xp.

does anyone know a solution to the problem?

This is due to the UAC. Install Oblivion somewhere outside Program Files (like C\Games\Oblivion). http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista for more information.

tried installing it to C:\oblivion but still doesnt work.
i remember getting it working back when i was using vista, il see if i can remember.
i may just use my other pc, it works fine on their becuase its xp. im pretty sure its the security settings on win7 causing havoc.

You should just turn off UAC anyways. It's useless.

yeah, im going to turn it off now and see what happens.
kinda wished microsoft just made xp again but better and stopped adding useless junk.
EDIT: turned it completely off but it still doesnt work. tried the mod i made (added a skeleton) on my other computer runing xp and it worked fine.
i guess il just have to use that computer or transfer them over to test them.

Incorrect, and bad advice, to boot. What you should do is learn how your computer works and set things appropriately. I hate Vista and refuse to buy it (still on XP), and that's likely extending to 7, but UAC, though the default settings are stupid as anything, does improve security on your computer. Much better to configure it properly than turn it off.

well turning it off doesnt at all protect you from hackers unless they are pure skidds.
i wouldnt recomend getting win7, its exactly the same as vista just doesnt crash much and has a different toolbar (which is awfull). definatly not worth the money (even for a CD if you get a ilegal copy).
